Golden Town and Gown Book Club (TGBC) will discuss When Rivers Run Dry\, by Fred Pearce in a Zoom meeting on April. Mr. Pearce is an entertaining\, British writer\, with an intern ational perspective.
The topic of wate r supply is thought by some to rival climate change in importance to our c ountry. The discussion leader will be Mines Professor of Hydrology Kamini Singha\, who was the 2019 Mines Faculty Senate Distinguished Lecturer on t he topic of water supply.
The meeting will begin with City Council or Jim Dale giving a brief encomium to Bill McKee\, one of Colorado’s wat er experts\, who was to lead the discussion of this book. Bill passed awa y suddenly in February.

The United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation will hold the annual ceremony for Veterans Day on Saturday\, November 6 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony\, honoring veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier\, will feature Guest Speaker Cmdr. Jason Pratt \, USN (Retired) along with a music program. The Golden Lions Club is hosting the 51st annual 4th of July community celebration in Lions Park. Activities k ick off at 11 a.m. with music by three local bands\, food\, drink\, childr en’s activities (including a hula hoop contest at 2:30 p.m.) and a raffle.

The Golden Years Reception on October 13 gathered important feedback from older adults in our community\, many of whom want to be enga ged in the planning of Golden Community Center and The Front Porch activit ies. We are excited to begin our collaboration to plan these fun opportuni ties!
City staff will offer several focus group sessions on November 3\, 2023\, based on feedback received at the reception . These focus groups will be held in a smaller space\, more conducive to c onversation and listening so everyone can hear and be heard.

High schoolers–put on your sleuthing hat\, grab some friends \, and join us on March 7 at the Golden Community Center for a fun night o f solving a murder mystery!
The fun starts at 5 p.m. and runs to 7 :30 p.m. with food and drinks provided.
This night also features a fun\, optional side adventure. At 7 p.m.\, you’ll also have the option of joining a group to see a performance of the musical “Pippin!” at the Gold en High School. Free tickets provided to Golden Teen Night participants. p>\n
