“Parenting in a Pandemic” is part of a series of FREE class es offered for Golden area residents offered by the Rotary Club of Golden. The Mental Wellness Initiative focuses on promoting mental well-being in teens and kids.
Any type of tr agedy\, including the COVID-19 pandemic\, can leave caretakers struggling to find what to say and how to connect with their youth. How do we help ki ds feel safe and secure in a world that doesn’t feel that way? This class covers how to help kids cope\, strategies for care givers to utilize to su pport feelings of control for them and their young people\, and how caregi vers themselves can take care of their emotions.
Speaker Chelsea V ibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit\, a team worki ng with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes i n trauma-based treatments\, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role\, she provided individual\, group\, and family therapy to students in Jeffer son County schools\, as well as providing professional development for edu cators and administrators on mental health and trauma.

The United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation will hold the annual ceremony for Veterans Day on Saturday\, November 6 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony\, honoring veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier\, will feature Guest Speaker Cmdr. Jason Pratt \, USN (Retired) along with a music program. The 13 US troops fallen on Au gust 26th will also be honored\, and a parade float of the Tomb of the Unk nown Soldier will be on site.
This year the USMC Memorial has been expanded to collect donations for the Toys for Tots program.

The Kiwanis Club and the Golden Chamber of Commerc e will host their annual Easter Egg hunt this year on April 16 at 10 a.m. in Parfet Park.

The Jefferson Count y Sheriff’s Office is proud to join with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers\, Fox 31 / KDVR\, Iron Mountain and other metro area law enforcement to help pr event identity theft by holding their annual Shred-A-Thon a> at 200 Jefferson County Parkway on May 14 from 7 a.m. to 12 p. m. (noon).
Each vehicle is limited to no more than three clean tra sh bags/bankers’ boxes of documents. Items containing personal and private information are ideal for drop-off. Please remove binders or other non-pa per contaminants\, but paperclips\, staples\, and window envelopes are acc eptable.
The event is free\, however\, donations are encouraged an d go directly to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

To address the needs of managing Golden’s growing popularity for pedestrians and bicyclists\, Golden Planning staff\, with the help of Muller Engineering\, is working to develop a Bike and Pedestrian Master Pl an that will provide the groundwork to ensure everyone—residents\, visitor s and commuters—has access to safe and efficient multimodal travel. Join your neighbors for a day of celebration a nd community service on National Public Land Day! The City of Golden\, in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space and the City of Wheat Ridge\, is sponsoring a Clear Creek Clean-up.
Participants will be workin g along a 22 mile stretch of the Peaks to Plains Trail along Clear Creek. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 12\,220 pounds of trash. M ismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of pro blems. Aquatic trash affects water quality\, endangers plants and animals\ , and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recrea tion.
The canyon will be closed for this very special event.
Volunteers must Sign up online to participate in this special day of community serv ice.
Afterwards\, be sure to join a post-project celebrat ion at the Gateway Trailhead in Golden. Voluntee rs will be treated to live music\, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older.

The Golden Lions Club is hosting the 51st annual 4th of July community celebration in Lions Park. Activities k ick off at 11 a.m. with music by three local bands\, food\, drink\, childr en’s activities (including a hula hoop contest at 2:30 p.m.) and a raffle.
The day culminates in a fireworks display at approx. 9:30 p.m.\, weather and fire conditions permitting. Keep an eye on the City’s social media channels (Facebook and Twitter) for up-t o-the-minute updates if a cancellation is necessary.
The celebration is a day for families\, friends\, and neighbors to gather in L ions Park to picnic or purchase food and drink. All raffle and festival pr oceed go to support the work that the Lions Club does in the community throughou t the year.
Parking near the festival is extremely limited . The 8th\, 9th and 10th Street neighborhood will be closed to th rough traffic and festival parking. Ride your bike or walk to the event if you are local.

The Golden Farmers Mar ket\, sponsored by the Golden Chamber of Commerce\, takes place Saturdays\ , June 1 – Oct. 5 (closed July 27 for Buffalo Bill Days) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 10th and Illinois.
The Farmers Mar ket features 70 vendors of produce and homemade artisanal foods and goods. Food trucks are onsite for visitors to enjoy breakfast or lunch by the cr eek.
