A Golden icon for three decades\, Golden Fine Arts Festiva l is a prestigious juried art show located in the heart of historic downto wn Golden\, Colorado happening August 21-22.
With its prime locati on just 20 minutes west of Metro Denver and free admission to the public\, this premier event traditionally draws over 30\,000 visitors (pre-COVID) over 2 days to enjoy art\, live entertainment\, beer and wine gardens\, an d food vendors.
The event\, rich in community tradition and a well -established reputation\, is limited to 100 artist booth spaces. If social distancing restrictions are in place\, booth spaces may be limited furthe r. Artists are selected through a competitive jury process selected by art professionals. Traditionally\, over half of participating artists travel to Golden from outside of the state of Colorado. Colorado is also home to many talented artists who participate at the event each year. The United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation will hold the annual ceremony for Veterans Day on Saturday\, November 6 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony\, honoring veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier\, will feature Guest Speaker Cmdr. Jason Pratt \, USN (Retired) along with a music program. The 13 US troops fallen on Au gust 26th will also be honored\, and a parade float of the Tomb of the Unk nown Soldier will be on site.
This year the USMC Memorial has been expanded to collect donations for the Toys for Tots program.

The Kiwanis Club and the Golden Chamber of Commerc e will host their annual Easter Egg hunt this year on April 16 at 10 a.m. in Parfet Park.
On the morning of the hunt\, thousands of plastic eggs are spread throughout Parfet Park with different areas for different age groups. Once the bell sounds\, kids clean the park in no time\, so don ’t be late!

Archaeology isn’t just about digs in exotic locations far aw ay from here. Golden has a rich history that we’re still “uncovering”! Sto p by the Golden History Museum (923 10th St.) on Saturday\, April 30 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and visit with archaeologist Amy Gi llaspie while she photographs artifacts collected during the Astor House C ommunity Archaeology Project excavation of summer 2021.
Learn more about the Astor House dig site\, ask about a day in the life of an archae ologist\, or just take a look at the artifacts. Amy specializes in social changes at Front Range historic sites and has also excavated at Plains sit es in Colorado and North Dakota\, at Classic Maya sites in Belize\, and fo r the US Department of Defense on a World War II recovery mission in Franc e. This a free drop-in event with NO registration required.
This family-friendly event\, sponsored by the Golden Community Commons group\, takes place on the last Tuesday of t he month\, May through September.
Gather at Calvary Church’s Celeb ration Plaza at 5:30 p.m. for music\, food\, raffles and New Terrain Brewe ry on site serving beer and cider. A themed\, costumed bike cruise heads o ff at 6:30 p.m. for a ride around Golden before heading back to the Plaza for more fun that continues until 9 p.m.

DeLong Park is located at 395 23rd Street. T he brief ceremony will mark the opening of Golden’s newest park. You can r ead more about the history of the park on Guiding Golden.
Golden P arks and Recreation is using DeLong Park as a pilot project for the City’s first organic park location. This means that we will be using only natura l\, organic products for all plants and grasses. No synthetic chemicals wi ll be used in our maintenance practices.
A group of weed-busting v olunteers meets weekly at DeLong Park on Thursday mornings from 8 to 10 a. m. to weed out invasive species–interested community members can join the group on Thursday mornings and be on the lookout for more information abou t formally signing up to help keep DeLong Park pesticide-free as a volunte er.
There will be NO firework s in Golden this year\, but lots of opportunity to celebrate at the 4th of July Festival in Lions Park\, organized and hosted by the Golden Lions Cl ub.
The celebration is an opportunity for families\, friends\, and neighbors to get together at Lions Park on 10th Street to enjoy food\, fu n and live music while celebrating our great country.

This fa mily-friendly event will have you strolling through Golden History Park\, taking in the colorful decorations\, making a craft that you get to take home\, and basking in the season. Valued volunteers make th is event possible and will serve as interpreters within the historic struc tures to answer questions and guide your experience.

The Golden Lions Club is hosting the 51st annual 4th of July community celebration in Lions Park. Activities k ick off at 11 a.m. with music by three local bands\, food\, drink\, childr en’s activities (including a hula hoop contest at 2:30 p.m.) and a raffle.
The day culminates in a fireworks display at approx. 9:30 p.m.\, weather and fire conditions permitting. Keep an eye on the City’s social media channels (Facebook and Twitter) for up-t o-the-minute updates if a cancellation is necessary.
The celebration is a day for families\, friends\, and neighbors to gather in L ions Park to picnic or purchase food and drink. All raffle and festival pr oceed go to support the work that the Lions Club does in the community throughou t the year.
Parking near the festival is extremely limited . The 8th\, 9th and 10th Street neighborhood will be closed to th rough traffic and festival parking. Ride your bike or walk to the event if you are local.
Remember that al l fireworks are ILLEGAL in the city limits of Golden\, so leave the firewo rks to the professionals. You can view the show from anywhere along the cr eek path\, near Lions Park\, and the Golden History Park.
