or Law Enforcement Agencies\, Inc. (CALEA®) will be evaluating the Golden
PD from Monday\, March 22 to Wednesday\, March 24. During their virtual as
sessment\, the CALEA assessors will examine all aspects of the Golden Poli
ce Department’s policy and procedures\, management\, operations and suppor
t services to determine if they continue to meet CALEA’s standards for law
enforcement agencies as part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation
– a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

The GPD voluntarily participates in this process b
y complying with approximately 368 standards established by the commission
to gain accredited status. The standards cover virtually all areas of the
Department’s operations and administration\, including patrol\, investiga
tions\, communications\, finance\, recruiting\, personnel and training.\n

The GPD has already undergone an extensive series o
f four annual web-based assessments by CALEA Compliance Service Members. T
he virtual on-site assessment is the final step in gaining re-accreditatio
n status. The GPD first became accredited by the commission in July 2008 a
nd has maintained this status continuously since that date.

vers themselves can take care of their emotions.

ibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit\, a team worki
ng with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received
her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes i
n trauma-based treatments\, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role\,
she provided individual\, group\, and family therapy to students in Jeffer
son County schools\, as well as providing professional development for edu
cators and administrators on mental health and trauma.

\nThe Rotary Club of Golden and the Jefferson Center present “
Cultivating Positivity\, Hopefulness\, and Joy in Difficult Times.” This i
s event is offered through Jefferson Center’s Speakers Bureau as part of G
olden Rotary’s periodic programming focused on mental wellness to support
the community. It is part of a series of FREE classes offered for Golden
area residents. The class will be held at Miners Alley Playhouse\, 6:30
PM – 7:30 PM. The event is also available via zoom.

tion: Even in difficult situations\, we can all practice good mental healt
h strategies to promote positive mental health. Join this event to learn p
ractical skills and tools to understand emotions\, resiliency\, and reflec
tion to be truly and positively you! Each of us can cultivate positivity\,
hopefulness\, and joy in our own lives and spread that to others!
\nPlanning Commission will meet in special session to discuss
an application by CoorsTek for a rezoning of 12.2 acres for mixed-use rede
velopment\, and an alley vacation for a platted alley between Ford and Jac
kson Streets (currently location of the parking lot adjacent to 10th St.)
for the CoorsTek site.
\nThe public is welcome to attend.
