  • Golden Vision Community ForumJune 19, 2012 – Golden, CO – The City of Golden is pleased to announce the launch of a new online community engagement tool that will allow residents to share ideas with others and chime in on City projects that will affect them most. The electronic forum, available at GoldenVision.CityofGolden.net, will initially focus on soliciting comments and feedback on the second draft of the South Neighborhoods Plan, but will soon be used to cover a broader array of issues relevant to Golden as well.

“The new Golden Vision site will allow citizens and the government the ability to work together, proposing ideas to improve Golden, providing feedback on these ideas and discussing matters important to the city,” said Steve Glueck, Community and Economic Development Director. “No matter the topic, our new website will enable a far more diverse audience to participate in the planning process than are able to attend traditional public meetings.”

During the two year community outreach process known as Golden Vision, citizens engaged in new and innovative ways of public participation to make their voices heard. Planning Commission and City Council have continued looking for new ways to keep this Golden Vision community spirit alive. This commitment to civic engagement led to a partnership with MindMixer, and the new GoldenVision community forum was born. Residents can sign up for the electronic forum for free, and immediately begin discussing issues and sharing ideas, both with other residents, and with City staff. Goldenites will now be able to conveniently find out about ongoing and upcoming projects, as well as provide their own ideas and feedback to help guide the public process.

For initial launch, the topics will focus on the Draft South Neighborhoods Plan, which primarily affects the neighborhoods along Heritage Road, and includes planning for the end of line light rail station at the Jefferson County campus. From the Golden Vision area of the City web site, citizens will be able to read this Draft Plan as well as tell the community what they think about important issues such as the future of development along West Colfax, and opportunities associated with the new light rail station and pedestrian bridge. Topics in the weeks ahead will address plans for the Golden Community Bus, East Downtown, and Vanover Park.
