Grills Allowed Again in Golden
Golden, Colo. – July 11, 2012 – Due to recent rainfall, the City of Golden Fire Department will once again allow barbeque grills to be used within city limits. For about two weeks, Golden was under one of the most restrictive bans it had ever implemented. Fortunately, mother nature gave us just enough moisture to slightly ease the list of restrictions.
Now, charcoal and wood burning cooking grills are allowed. Gas grills were never part of the ban and are still acceptable to use. The Golden Parks Department has removed the bags over the grills in the city parks, so that visitors have access to them.
Smoking in public places is also permitted, with the exception of areas already off limits to smokers and anywhere along Clear Creek.
Open burning is still not permitted. This includes, bonfires, recreational fires in fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, fire rings, chimineas,Tiki torches, model rockets and fireworks.
These restrictions are subject to change at any time. The Fire Chief will closely watch weather conditions and determine what bans need to be in place to protect citizens. These changes took effect at noon on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
