    Enjoy many activities designed to kick off the growing season at the city-hosted Greener Golden Event from 9am to noon on May 12. Come to the Golden Community Garden, located at the west end of 8th Street, between the Briarwood and the Community Center. Garden-in-a-Box orders may be picked up at that time.

    Golden had a blacksmith as early as 1859. Come to the Clear Creek History Park shop between 10am and 5pm to meet the "smithies " and watch them craft metal into useful, everyday items. Free!

    Dinosaur Express TrainDinosaur Express Train

    Time: 9:00 am

    The Dinosaur Express Train rolls into the Colorado Railroad Museum on May 19 from 9 am to 5 pm. Colorado railroads helped unearth many fossils as railroad tracks were laid. Construction crews often exposed these unusual and fascinating bones as they were digging and laying railroad ties. Trains were then used to transport these ‘stone bones’ to museums around Colorado and throughout the U.S. Admission is for children (under 2 free), for adults, for a family and for seniors over 60.

    Kick off the summer season at Clear Creek History Park with a full day of contests, challenges, and pies. Bake the best pie (advance registration required) and you may win the blue ribbon and a cash prize. Local personalities will judge the baked goods, and you may get to try a sample even if you don't bake anything. There's a new activity hourly; stop by anytime between 10am and 4:30pm to test your skills. Free!
