The Downtown Development Task Force was established by City Council Resolution 2204 adopted on August 9, 2012.
Purpose of the Downtown Development Task Force
Evaluate the kinds of projects and programs currently underway downtown and make recommendations regarding whether and how they should be continued.- Evaluate the sources and uses of funds that a DDA would make available, and make recommendations regarding them.
- Evaluate and make recommendations on the boundary and organizational structure of the DDA.
- Communicate and promote the above to City Council, the citizens of Golden, and the potential electors of the DDA via public meetings, web-based discussions, and other means.
Applying for the Task Force
Applications to be appointed to this Task Force are due to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on September 12, 2012. Appointments will be made on September 27, 2012. It is expected that six members of the downtown community will be appointed to this Task Force along with City Councilor Joe Behm. Other than Councilor Behm, all members of the Task Force must reside in, work in, or own a business in the current downtown GURA district.
The first meeting will be at City Council Chambers from 6-8 p.m. on October 2, 2012. The Task Force will meet at least monthly thereafter through November 2013. The Task Force will submit quarterly reports to City Council and will submit its final report including draft ordinances by May 31, 2013.
