Golden offers a wide variety of park experiences. Parfet Park, located just north of downtown, is the oldest park. During the 1980s, several neighborhood parks were established as the new subdivisions were developed and a regional athletic complex, Ulysses Park, was built.
Golden has experienced a recent surge of growth in the mid-1990s and the Golden Parks and Recreation Department has kept pace with the New Loveland Mine Park, built in 1996, and the White Ash Mine Park, built in 1997. Tony Grampsas Memorial Sports Complex was added in 1999. Discovery Park is the newest addition, completed in 2006.
