A Little Help provides companionship and assists older adults with a variety of tasks. Requests include yard work, light indoor housekeeping/organization, transportation to appointments, errands, tech support, care calls/visits and yearly snow shoveling. Volunteering with A Little Help is flexible and meaningful.

The Mountaineering Museum is America’s first and only museum dedicated to the heroism, technology, culture, and spirit of mountaineering. The Alpine Library (1916) is devoted to mountaineering and rock climbing with over 20,000 books.

Volunteers can ensure their older neighbors have enough to eat by assisting with our Food Delivery Program by delivering boxes of non-perishable food and fresh produce to home-bound seniors in the Golden area. Volunteers also help families apply for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, helping them with much-needed food resources.

Historical Preservation

The Buffalo Bill Museum preserves the memory of William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody on Lookout Mountain Park. It collects, cares for, and interprets artifacts associated with Buffalo Bill between 1846 and 1917.

CASA’s mission is to recruit, train, and manage volunteers who serve as independent lay advocates for children who are victims of neglect, and physical and/or sexual abuse. Their hope is that all children will have a CASA volunteer as someone to pay attention, someone to give the child a voice, someone to care.

The Golden Bike Cruise is a family-friendly event for riders of all ages held monthly, May through September. Participants cruise along the bike paths and streets of Golden. The rides are themed, and riders are encouraged to wear costumes and decorate their bikes.

The Golden Chamber of Commerce strives to enhance and promote the economic environment of the Great Golden Area through supporting our chamber members; collaborating with businesses, city, county, state, and community resources; and putting forth efforts to enhance the quality of life for the community at large.

The Golden Optimists Club accept new or used bicycles to be fixed and available to those who need one for transportation, health, and fun. Serving the greater Golden area, they also teach bicycle repair and maintenance, promote bicycle safety, and recycle bikes.

Neighborhood Rehab Project is a nonprofit organization that facilitates community coming together to act as neighbors who help each other out by addressing varying needs, from yardwork to house-painting to fixing leaky roofs. This happens through service, skill development, and a strong focus on relational development. “Be a Tool” projects happen throughout the year at different locations, but one day a year, the organization hosts a multi-city Day of Service event.

Victim Services

Volunteers are called by law enforcement to respond on-scene as Victim Advocates overnight and on weekends to meet with victims of crime and trauma. These volunteers provide essential emotional support during a crisis, share information and resources, provide a safety plan, and are a crucial first step on the path towards healing and recovery for victims.
