Fall PAYT Yard Waste Collection Days
Nov 13 all-day

A still from the Yard Waste collection videoFor residents who participate in the Pay as You Throw (PAYT) program, the Fall Yard Waste Collection is scheduled for the week of November 11 – 15.

Yard Waste will be collected by a separate truck on your designated trash collection day and should be placed at or near where your trash is collected by 7 a.m. Material may be placed in reusable containers of your choice or in compostable bags available for purchase at Meyers Hardware, The Home Depot and other home improvement stores. Yard Waste for this collection is limited to grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, weeds, branches, sawdust, ground or chipped wood.

Shelton Elementary 2018-2019 Kindergarten Open House @ Shelton Elementary School

The Shelton Elementary 2018-2019 Kindergarten Open House allows parents and future students (Class of 2032) to meet this year’s kindergarten teachers, the Principal and other staff members.

After a brief introduction from the Principal and kindergarten teachers there will be time for questions and answers.

To conclude the evening, there will be staff-guided tour of the school and the opportunity to see kindergarten classrooms.

Downtown Development Authority Meeting @ Council Chambers

DDA LogoThe Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

Local Liquor Licensing Authority Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Local Liquor Licensing Authority meets on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. These meetings are open to the public and take place in City Council Chambers, 911 10th Street at 2:30 p.m.

The Board is comprised of a Hearing Officer, who is appointed by City Council.

Golden United Housing Task Force @ CSM Arthur Lakes Library "Fish Bowl" Meeting Room

The community driven Golden United Housing Task force is advancing actions to improve access to affordable housing for all income levels while preserving Golden’s unique small town character.

The full Housing Task Force will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This will feature a discussion with CSM on how we can work together to address and manage student housing needs.

Following that, the Preserving Existing Housing Subgroup will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to participate in this subgroup.​

All are welcome to both meetings on Tuesday, November 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the “fish bowl” meeting room at the Colorado School of Mines Arthur Lakes Library.

8th Street Redesign Public Meeting @ Golden Community Center
Nov 19 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

On Tuesday, November 19, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Golden Community Center, 1470 10th St., the City will hold a meeting to discuss the redesign of 8th Street.

City staff will conduct an initial meeting to discuss the preferred goals and outcomes of a redesign of the 8th St. Streetscape. This meeting will specifically target goals and outcomes as opposed to specific design details. Once gathered, City staff will utilize the prioritized goals to draft an initial approach to street design.

Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board was created to increase community involvement, and to advise Golden City Council and staff on how to best provide safe and comprehensive parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services on behalf of all current and future residents of the City of Golden.

The board consists of seven members and one alternate who serve four-year terms, making suggestions about policies and procedures, fees and charges, acceptance of park land, design of parks, and other projects relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.
