The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets in Council Chambers on the second Wednesday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled as needed.

The annual E-Days events are put on by the Colorado School of Mines. While most of the events are for students only, there are a few visible to the public, including trebuchet contests, Cardboard Boat Races in Clear Creek and a fireworks display on Saturday night, April 15 at 9:15 p.m.

Join us at the Golden History Museum on April 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to learn about the adventures and life of Lavinia Morgan Anderson as told by storyteller, Linda Batlin. Lavinia is a fictional character, but her story is drawn from the snippets of diaries kept by many real pioneer women who immigrated west in the 1800s and created a new life in Colorado. is a composite character of a pioneer woman living on a ranch in Colorado in the late 1880s. Come and hear about the adventures of Lavinia Morgan Anderson and gain a better understanding of the challenges, privations, fears and triumphs of pioneer women.

Putting the ‘fun’ in fundraiser, this annual event supports the efforts of the Mitchell Elementary PTA with a stroll down the ‘saloons’ of Washington Avenue.

Check in at YoColorado (805 12th Street) from 6 – 7 p.m., then head to the Buffalo Rose for boot scooting to the music of the “Gnarbillys,” while bidding on unique auction items.

This spring, the curbside yard waste collection dates for Pay as You Throw (PAYT) program customers will occur on your normal service day during the week of May 8 – 12. For more details, please see our guidelines for collection.

To receive updates regarding the city’s waste and recycling service, please subscribe to our email reminders for one day delays for holiday weeks, severe weather notifications, or service delays that may affect your recycling and garbage collection. This email service is only for City of Golden program customers.

Please see our service calendar  for alternating recycling and compost weeks and remember to have your carts out by 7 a.m. on your day of service.
