The annual Chili Cook-off is GHS’s largest fundraising event. Enter your favorite chili in one of four categories, or just bring the family for all-you-can eat chili and shop the silent auction.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

Taste of Golden features samplings from a wide variety of Golden’s fine dining restaurants, eateries, and sweet-shops, as well as from local Breweries and Distilleries.

This is an opportunity to sample some of the best that Golden culinary treats that Golden has to offer.

A limited number of tickets are available and no tickets will be sold at the door, so plan ahead and purchase your tickets soon on the Golden Chamber of Commerce website.​

The Mines Music Spring Concert is on Sunday, April 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ford building on the Colorado School of Mines campus, 1301 19^th St.

The vocal music groups will perform from 1 to 2 p.m. and the Concert Band from 2 to 3 p.m. The Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity will hold a prize raffle at the end, with a chance to win many great prizes donated by businesses in the Golden area. This is a progressive night that mashes up the community of The Wright with local businesses and organizations of Golden by encouraging exploration of historic downtown. This year’s events, specials and partnerships are hosted by a number of different businesses.

Golden Landmarks Association (GLA) is hosting its seventeenth Living Landmarks Dinner this year to recognize individuals and organizations whose dedication to Golden has had a positive impact on the City and greater community. GLA is dedicated to preserving Golden’s history and historic places and educating residents and visitors alike about the Golden area.

Buy or sell your bike and bike gear and help support the Golden High School Mountain Bike Team.

The Golden High School Community Bike Swap happens Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Golden High School. Anyone interested in selling a bike can register by emailing GHSBikeSwap@gmail.com.

There is a $1 suggested admission donation to attend the bike swap.

The Colorado Air Quality Control Commission will hold a public hearing to hear comments on a proposed renewal of the Title V Operating Permit for the CoorsTek Inc. facility at 600 9th Street.

Any interested person may provide comments on the sufficiency of the proposed operating permit’s preliminary analysis and whether the permit application should be approved or denied.

Bring your dancing shoes for a rockin’ outdoor Bubble Disco party to kick off Summer Reading at the Golden Library on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Crafts, bubbles and the Spark City Bus are part of the fun for the whole family!

Every Friday and Saturday night from June 1 through August 31, 5 to 8 p.m., Golden’s downtown comes alive with activity for the whole family to enjoy.

Dozens of Golden businesses stay open until at least 8 p.m. and offer specials, in-store demonstrations, samples and more.

Live music on the street corners, free carriage rides, and merchant special activities bring the festivities outdoors onto the sidewalks and in stores and restaurants throughout the summer weekend evenings.

The Downtown Golden Merchant Partners (DGMP) is hosting the events, with support from the Downtown Development Authority, in appreciation of the Golden community.

Participating businesses will be marked by a gold balloon at their front doors. Golden Weekends will not take place during Buffalo Bill Days weekend nor on Super Cruise Saturdays.

Free parking during the evenings will make it easy for families and visitors to come enjoy Golden Weekends.

The Golden History Museum & Park is thrilled to announce that, following a six-month closure to renovate the building, the Golden History Museum (GHM) will reopen on Saturday, June 23! To celebrate the renovation and the Museum’s 80th anniversary, GHM will have a FREE public open house on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Westernaires will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon to add to the festivities with cavalry, trick roping, ponies and more. The Museum is located at 923 10th St.

Whether you’ve been to GHM many times or never before, this will be a whole new experience. All of the exhibits and displays are new, there are many hands-on areas, and for the first time, the work that’s done behind the scenes to restore artifacts will now be in plain view.
