The final public meeting to see results of the Heritage Road engineering study, originally to take place on February 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Shelton Elementary Library, has been postponed. Please watch our Community Calendar for the new date when it has been decided. We will also announce the new date on Facebook.

The annual Chili Cook-off is GHS’s largest fundraising event. Enter your favorite chili in one of four categories, or just bring the family for all-you-can eat chili and shop the silent auction.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

The Golden Investment Forum Task Force will host a community Open House on March 14, 4:30 to 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to kick off the community engagement focus of the project.

The Open House is expected to include information on the types of potential investment projects the Task Force is researching under their duties as assigned by Council.

Taste of Golden features samplings from a wide variety of Golden’s fine dining restaurants, eateries, and sweet-shops, as well as from local Breweries and Distilleries.

This is an opportunity to sample some of the best that Golden culinary treats that Golden has to offer.

A limited number of tickets are available and no tickets will be sold at the door, so plan ahead and purchase your tickets soon on the Golden Chamber of Commerce website.​

What:  Public Open House session for Mines Master Plan project
When: April 19, 2018, 5:30 –7 p.m.
Where:  Starzer Welcome Center – 1812 Illinois Street

The public is invited to an open house to offer input into the Mines Master Plan. The video presents the alternative development concepts that have emerged from our earlier master planning meetings. Anyone planning to come to the meeting is encouraged to watch the entire video in advance to prepare for discussion at the meeting.

At this session, the public is invited to comment on alternatives to the physical plan. The alternatives in the video were derived from campus and public input compiled during the previous months. This session is geared towards receiving input from the City of Golden and the public at large.

The Mines Music Spring Concert is on Sunday, April 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ford building on the Colorado School of Mines campus, 1301 19^th St.

The vocal music groups will perform from 1 to 2 p.m. and the Concert Band from 2 to 3 p.m. The Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity will hold a prize raffle at the end, with a chance to win many great prizes donated by businesses in the Golden area. This is a progressive night that mashes up the community of The Wright with local businesses and organizations of Golden by encouraging exploration of historic downtown. This year’s events, specials and partnerships are hosted by a number of different businesses.

The Colorado Air Quality Control Commission will hold a public hearing to hear comments on a proposed renewal of the Title V Operating Permit for the CoorsTek Inc. facility at 600 9th Street.

Any interested person may provide comments on the sufficiency of the proposed operating permit’s preliminary analysis and whether the permit application should be approved or denied.

Bring your dancing shoes for a rockin’ outdoor Bubble Disco party to kick off Summer Reading at the Golden Library on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Crafts, bubbles and the Spark City Bus are part of the fun for the whole family!

Every Friday and Saturday night from June 1 through August 31, 5 to 8 p.m., Golden’s downtown comes alive with activity for the whole family to enjoy.

Dozens of Golden businesses stay open until at least 8 p.m. and offer specials, in-store demonstrations, samples and more.

Live music on the street corners, free carriage rides, and merchant special activities bring the festivities outdoors onto the sidewalks and in stores and restaurants throughout the summer weekend evenings.

The Downtown Golden Merchant Partners (DGMP) is hosting the events, with support from the Downtown Development Authority, in appreciation of the Golden community.

Participating businesses will be marked by a gold balloon at their front doors. Golden Weekends will not take place during Buffalo Bill Days weekend nor on Super Cruise Saturdays.

Free parking during the evenings will make it easy for families and visitors to come enjoy Golden Weekends.
