GHS 6th Annual Chili Cook-off & Silent Auction @ Golden High School

The annual Chili Cook-off is GHS’s largest fundraising event. Enter your favorite chili in one of four categories, or just bring the family for all-you-can eat chili and shop the silent auction.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

2018 Living Landmarks Dinner & Annual Fundraiser @ Mt. Vernon Country Club Canyon Room

Golden Landmarks Association (GLA) is hosting its seventeenth Living Landmarks Dinner this year to recognize individuals and organizations whose dedication to Golden has had a positive impact on the City and greater community. GLA is dedicated to preserving Golden’s history and historic places and educating residents and visitors alike about the Golden area.

GHS Bike SwapBuy or sell your bike and bike gear and help support the Golden High School Mountain Bike Team.

The Golden High School Community Bike Swap happens Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Golden High School. Anyone interested in selling a bike can register by emailing GHSBikeSwap@gmail.com.

There is a $1 suggested admission donation to attend the bike swap.

2nd Annual Summer Jam @ Colorado Railroad Museum

Golden Summer Jam 2018The 2nd Annual Summer Jam, sponsored by the Golden Civic Foundation, features live music, food and fun for all ages. The goal of this summertime event is to connect with Golden families and residents, promote community involvement and celebrate Golden’s small town, friendly atmosphere.

The evening will feature live music by three local bands including The Great Salmon Famine, Chris Thompson & Friends and Burn it Blue. Attendees will also have the chance to explore the Colorado Railroad Museum’s scenic, 15-acre railyard that is home to more than 100 locomotives, passenger cars and cabooses. Guests can enjoy a ride on the Galloping Goose Railway and also delight in the charm of a fully operational miniature garden railway. Food and beverages will be provided by New Terrain Brewing Co., Rolling Dough wood-fired pizza, Rolling Dogs and Em’s Ice Cream food trucks. Spark City Children’s Museum and The Kids Music Project by Coral Creek will also be on-site with the Spark City Bus, a mobile children’s museum, and a musical instrument “petting zoo.”

Tickets to the Golden Summer Jam are $20 for adults and free for youth under 18 and are available online. Each adult ticket includes one complimentary New Terrain beer. Event proceeds will support the Golden Civic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. All ticket sales are final and tickets to this event are non-refundable.

Help, Hope, Strength – Documentary Premier @ Foothills Art Center

Washington Avenue MuralCome to the premiere of the documentary Help, Hope, Strength  on July 17 at 6 p.m. at Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. and learn about the meaning behind the new mural on north Washington Avenue.

The new 1,000 ft. long mural covers the retaining wall along Washington Avenue between 2nd and 5th streets. This is the product of an 18-month long program that involved Foothills Art Center, Golden High School, Golden Rotary Club, and Denver artist, Jolt.

The new mural reflects mental health issues in our community with an uplifting message about help, hope, and strength. The mural design came from students working along with the artist.

IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado Silent Auction & Fundraiser @ Golden Solar building

Come out on Thursday, July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. for food, drink, a silent auction and community in a fundraiser to benefit IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado. This community event is open to the public, and is hosted by YourAshtanga located in the Golden Solar building at 612 10th St, Golden, CO 80401.

  • Free admission
  • Silent auction features goods and services from area businesses (must be present at 7:30 p.m. to be the winning bid)
  • Burgers and beverages available for a cash donation (beer, wine, soft drinks)
  • Free pass good for one yoga class for all attendees
  • Free parking in the adjacent CoorsTek parking lot

IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowerment and choice, empowering participants with emotional, verbal and physical skills to move freely in the world.

IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado envisions a world in which human beings deeply and authentically connect by declaring individual boundaries and reclaiming inherent rights and responsibilities to universal safety and well-being.

All proceeds from this event will benefit IMPACT Personal Safety Colorado.

Maria Droste Counseling Center 6th Annual Golf Classic @ Fossil Trace Golf Club

The Maria Droste Counseling Center’s 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The tournament includes a 4-person scramble, breakfast burrito, bucket of balls, golf cart, luncheon, and an awards reception following the tournament.

The tournament will kickoff with a shotgun start at promptly 8:30 a.m. Players are invited to check in no earlier than 7 a.m.

Two Score Enhancement Packages are available this year, with options to buy online in advance or to purchase at check in on the day of the tournament. Buy Score Enhancement Options online through September 3. After September 3, packages will only be for sale at the tournament in the morning. Once the tournament has begun, score enhancement “a la carte” will be available for purchase from various carts circulating the course during play.

Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair @ Washington Avenue

Toby's Pet Parade photo by Nancy LindoFoothills Animal Shelter (FAS) hosts the third annual Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8.  The parade will go along Washington Avenue and end in Parfet Park, corner of 10th Street & Washington Avenue. Hundreds of animal lovers and their dogs in costumes will walk in the parade and compete for prizes in categories like “Doggie Diva,” “Best Group,” and “Most Original.”

After the parade, enjoy a fair with a beer garden, food trucks, live music, dog flyball demonstrations, family friendly games, vendor booths and much more. For more information and to register, visit www.tobyspetparade.org.

All proceeds will go to care for the more than 9,200 animals who enter FAS each year, providing essential medical, behavioral and life-saving care to homeless pets.

Golden Giddyup @ Lions Park

Golden GiddyupWhether riding the Giddyup event or not, this event in Lions Park offers a day of fun in the sun. Enjoy bluegrass, beers, and bike-time on Sunday, September 16 with dozens of great bike brands displaying their wares. This family-friendly event includes a kids’ bike course from Avid4Adventure, shenanigans from REI, food trucks, beer and whiskey.

For the second year, the Giddyup has teamed up with New Terrain Brewery who are making tasty brew just for this event, with proceeds from the sales supporting the Golden Giddyup’s trail efforts.

Golden Gallop 2018 @ Downtown Golden

Golden GallopOn Sunday, September 23, 2018 Golden’s biggest annual race will take place for the 13th year running. Starting beneath the City’s famous ‘Welcome’ arch, right in the center of historic downtown Golden, and finishing in Parfet Park beside gushing Clear Creek, the Golden Gallop will lead its runners on 5k and 10k loops. Both runners and walkers are welcome!

Proceeds from the race go to the Golden Schools Foundation. Learn more at Goldengallop.com.

The 2018 Golden Gallop is sure to be a one-of-a-kind race in a one-of-a-kind town. Be there, running where the west runs!
