Meet with a Scientist: Dr. Kirstin Alberi – NREL Power Lunch Series @ NREL Education Center
Feb 6 @ 11:12 pm – Feb 7 @ 12:12 am

What happens in an NREL lab? Engage in an interactive discussion with Dr. Kirsten Alberi about her life working on the development of semiconductor alloys for photovoltaic and solid-state lighting applications. Alberi will share visuals of her lab space while she discusses how scientific research is performed, how she works with NREL’s partners to accelerate the transfer of ideas to the market, and her contribution to the Lab’s impact on our national and global energy needs.

Dr. Alberi received a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008, where she studied the optical and electronic properties of highly mismatched semiconductor alloys. She was initially hired by NREL as a postdoctoral researcher in the Silicon Materials and Devices group to investigate the design and performance of thin crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells fabricated on inexpensive substrates.

In 2010, Kirstin joined the Materials Physics group to conduct basic research on the growth and characterization of semiconductor alloys for photovoltaic and solid-state lighting applications.

Reservations are required for this free public program so call 303-384-6565 or e-mail education.center@nrel.gov to save your spot. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch to enjoy during the presentation.
