Golden United and Foothills Art Center are bringing together City of Golden staff, volunteers, businesses, city council members, and neighbors to talk about housing in Golden. We’ll discuss maintaining affordable housing, preserving the city’s character, and finding opportunities for action.

Every Friday and Saturday night from June 1 through August 31, 5 to 8 p.m., Golden’s downtown comes alive with activity for the whole family to enjoy.

Dozens of Golden businesses stay open until at least 8 p.m. and offer specials, in-store demonstrations, samples and more.

Live music on the street corners, free carriage rides, and merchant special activities bring the festivities outdoors onto the sidewalks and in stores and restaurants throughout the summer weekend evenings.

The Downtown Golden Merchant Partners (DGMP) is hosting the events, with support from the Downtown Development Authority, in appreciation of the Golden community.

Participating businesses will be marked by a gold balloon at their front doors. Golden Weekends will not take place during Buffalo Bill Days weekend nor on Super Cruise Saturdays.

Free parking during the evenings will make it easy for families and visitors to come enjoy Golden Weekends.

The Golden History Museum & Park is thrilled to announce that, following a six-month closure to renovate the building, the Golden History Museum (GHM) will reopen on Saturday, June 23! To celebrate the renovation and the Museum’s 80th anniversary, GHM will have a FREE public open house on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Westernaires will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon to add to the festivities with cavalry, trick roping, ponies and more. The Museum is located at 923 10th St.

Whether you’ve been to GHM many times or never before, this will be a whole new experience. All of the exhibits and displays are new, there are many hands-on areas, and for the first time, the work that’s done behind the scenes to restore artifacts will now be in plain view. The Golden Investment Forum Task Force is charged with outreach to the community to review the community amenities, enhancements, and improvements proposed in recent years to determine the amount of community support for these proposals.

The Mobility & Transportation Advisory Board offers a venue to evaluate the relationship between mobility of all types and the economy, sustainability, safety, land use, neighborhood integrity, and emergency response times; and study the importance of transportation access to health care, employment, education, housing, business, and recreational facilities.

MTAB meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street unless otherwise noted.

The Local Liquor Licensing Authority meets on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. These meetings are open to the public and take place in City Council Chambers, 911 10th Street at 2:30 p.m.

The Board is comprised of a Hearing Officer, who is appointed by City Council.

The mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., unless rescheduled for holidays or a lack of quorum. Meetings are open to the public.
