Historic Preservation Board Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

Planning Commission Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

The event is sponsored by the City of Golden, SCL Health Lutheran Hospital and IX Power Clean Water. Proceeds will benefit “Porchlight,” the new Jefferson & Gilpin County Family Justice Center.

Economic Development Commission Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

North Neighborhoods R-2 Zoning Amendments Discussion @ Council Chambers
Mar 14 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

The Planning Division is currently conducting a public outreach process regarding possible new development regulations for R-2-zoned properties in north Golden. A short, online survey is currently available on the Guiding Golden website to assist staff with recommendations for any potential zoning code updates. This survey will be closed at the end of February and the results will be organized into zoning recommendations.

Staff’s recommendations will be presented to the community on Thursday, March 14 in a formal presentation. This presentation will be held in the City Council Chambers from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Additionally, staff’s recommendations will be discussed by the Planning Commission in a study session to be held on March 20.

Community Sustainability Advisory Board Retreat @ Harmony Village Common House

SustainabilityThe mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate the achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable and empower the citizens, visitors and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will hold a Board Retreat on March 16 to discuss their 2019 Strategic Plan. The meeting will take place at Harmony Village Common House, 1001 Cottonwood Circle in Golden, and is open to the public.

Downtown Development Authority Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

DDA LogoThe Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets at 6:30 p.m.

 Golden was named after Thomas L. Golden,
a gold prospector who arrived in Jefferson County in 1858.
