Golden Bicycle Cruise 2019 @ Golden Library
May 28 @ 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Golden Bike CruiseGet your costumes ready and pump up your tires! The Golden Bicycle Cruise is back for another fun season of music, beer, food, and the always popular costume-themed cruise rides around Golden.

Golden-based New Terrain Brewing Company will pour two local brews each night, while local bands provide the music and Bob’s Atomic Burgers provides the food. If you plan on purchasing food or drinks, please note that this is a cash-only event.

There are prize drawings for adults and kids during every ride. Adults earn prize tickets with the purchase of beer, and kids can earn tickets by (1) showing up (2) wearing a costume and/or (3) bringing nonperishable food donations for a local food pantry.

The family-friendly event, sponsored by the Golden Community Commons group, takes place on the last Tuesday of the month, May through September. Gather at 6 p.m. in the parking lot next to the library for music, food and beer. Ride starts at 7 p.m. and ends back at the library lot where the fun continues until 9:30 p.m.

Envisioning the Future of Golden Community Workshop @ Foothills Art Center

The City of Golden, in partnership with Golden United and the Foothills Art Center, invite you to a community workshop to discuss the future of Golden. We will talk about visions for Golden and how we can manage development to align with key goals, including preserving our small town character, access to affordable housing, and sustainability.

Together, we will brainstorm options for regulating land-use and development, as well as strategies for strengthening communication and engagement of residents in planning and zoning processes.

The community workshop will be held at Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St, on Tuesday, June 4, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

3rd Annual Golden Summer Jam @ Colorado Railroad Museum

2019 Golden Summer JamThe 3rd Annual Summer Jam, sponsored by the Golden Civic Foundation, features live music, food and fun for all ages. The goal of this summertime event is to connect with Golden families and residents, promote community involvement and celebrate Golden’s small town, friendly atmosphere.

The evening will feature live music by Dorado, Bowregard and The Great Salmon Famine, three bands with Golden connections. Attendees will also have the chance to explore the Colorado Railroad Museum’s scenic, 15-acre railyard that is home to more than 100 locomotives, passenger cars and cabooses. Guests can enjoy a ride on the Galloping Goose Railway and also delight in the charm of a fully operational miniature garden railway.

Local non-profit partners will be on-site to offer family-oriented activities including the Colorado Mountain Club with their popular Bouldering Bus and the Golden Backpack Program and The Drake Durkee Foundation who have partnered to provide a Bouncy House for the evening. Food and beverage will be sold by New Terrain Brewing Co. (beer), Ace Liquor (wine), Bob’s Atomic Burgers, the Crock Spot and Mooontime Crepes food trucks.

Tickets to the Golden Summer Jam are $20 for adults and free for youth under 18 (maximum 2 free per family) and are available online. Each adult ticket includes one complimentary New Terrain beer. Event proceeds will support the Golden Civic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. All ticket sales are final and tickets to this event are non-refundable.

Lions Club 4th of July Celebration 2019 @ Lions Park

4th of July CelebrationCome out to celebrate with the 48th annual Lions Club Fourth of July celebration in Lions Park.

Enjoy the day in the park, listening to the great line up of live music provided by the Lions Club. Pack your own picnic or purchase food and drink in the park. Sangria and wine will be available from Bonacquisti Wines, Denver’s urban winery. Remember that outside alcohol may not be brought into or consumed in the park.

Don’t forget to get your raffle tickets for the many great prizes donated by generous community partners and merchants to the Lions Club.  All the proceeds go to fund the many community projects the Lions Club does for the community.  Friendly and leashed dogs are welcome.

The fun starts at 11 a.m. and doesn’t end until the fireworks display begins, approximately 9:30 p.m., weather and fire conditions permitting.

3:30 – 6 p.m. – Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene (Rockabilly)

  • If you are planning to bring your own grill, please be aware of park rules governing the use of grills in Lions Park: Use of a portable propane camp stove is permitted if the stove’s propane tank has a capacity of 2 pounds or less. Ordinance No: 2046.
  • Smoking, vaping and the use of electronic smoking devices is not permitted in any Golden Park or recreation facility.
  • Dogs must be kept on leashes and the person having the charge of the animal must immediately pick up the poop and dispose of it appropriately.

Buffalo Bill Days 2019

Buffalo Bill Days 2018The annual Buffalo Bill Days celebration dates back to the 1940’s as a trail ride up Lookout Mountain to Buffalo Bill’s grave.

Over the years the celebration has expanded with more activities and multiple days of fun — it is now the largest community festival held in Golden. The event draws many people from surrounding communities who enjoy bringing their families to a wholesome, small-town community event.

This year’s activities include Cody’s Wild West, the “Best of the West” theme Parade, Muttin’ Bustin’, live music, a car show, a golf tournament, food and merchandise vendors and much more.

 Golden was named after Thomas L. Golden,
a gold prospector who arrived in Jefferson County in 1858.
