This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

The Golden Community Center (GCC) will be closed for its Annual Maintenance Week, Aug. 19 – 25, which coincidentally includes the day of the Colorado Classic bike race.
During this closure the GCC will accomplish many projects that can’t be completed while they’re open, which will include,
but is not limited to, the following:
- Deep cleaning
- Refinishing hardwood floors
- Painting throughout the building
- Equipment repair and/or replacements
- Changing bulbs and light fixtures in hard to reach, high places that require special equipment
The Splash will be open for lap swimming August 19 – 25.
The GCC will reopen at normal time on Monday, August 26.
We thank you for your patience as we work hard to make the GCC safe and clean for all residents.
Golden will be bustling with volunteers armed with paint brushes, hammers, and other home improvement tools for this year’s annual Be a Tool Neighborhood Rehab Project (NRP) on September 7!
Since 2011, the NRP has enlisted kind-hearted neighbors to help homeowners make improvements to their homes to keep them warm, dry, and safe. The program was started in Golden, but has since spread to also include Arvada, Englewood, and Idaho Springs.
Using an innovative model of community support and volunteers, over 734 homes have been improved since the program began.
22,483 volunteer hours were donated which resulted in labor savings of more than $525,000. Yet to the homeowners who benefit from the program, the help is priceless.
