The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through October and the second Wednesday of November, at 7:30 a.m.

The Colorado Classic comes to Golden on Saturday, August 24 and the route they have chosen will be an exciting day of fast-paced action right downtown.

On paper, Stage 3 in Golden looks like a sprinter’s delight with seven swift laps of a nine-mile circuit that starts and finishes under the iconic Golden arch downtown. But don’t be fooled as the short steep climb up the historic Washington Avenue is enough for a mini-Queen of the Mountain on the last lap. Seven laps means the racers will come through downtown SEVEN times – that’s a lot of great opportunity for spectating. New Terrain Brewery will also have a front row seat to the action, as the route will take the race right in front of the brewery.

The Mobility & Transportation Advisory Board offers a venue to evaluate the relationship between mobility of all types and the economy, sustainability, safety, land use, neighborhood integrity, and emergency response times; and study the importance of transportation access to health care, employment, education, housing, business, and recreational facilities.

MTAB meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) implements urban renewal projects consistent with community values.

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

The Golden City Council meets every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the City.

In December 2017 the City purchased the Delong property at 395 23^rd Street for the purpose of creating a neighborhood park, which will fill a void in the parks master planning process for the community. The new neighborhood park will be located on 23^rd Street, between East Street and Table Heights Drive. The planning process for the new park is just beginning. The area is a blank slate with no plans currently in place; the Parks, Recreation and Museums Advisory Board (PRMAB) is seeking public input on how the area should be developed.

Please join city staff and the Parks, Recreation and Museums Advisory Board on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Golden Community Center, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the first step in the planning process. Rod Tarullo, Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf, will conduct two 15-minute park development presentations at 6:45 p.m., and again at 7:45 p.m. Each will follow with Q&A and open discussion.
