Public Works Citizen’s Academy Kick-off Session @ Public Works and Planning Building

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. Build your library and find amazing deals with prices starting at just 50 cents, all while supporting the Jefferson County Library Foundation.

Shop for gently used, new and antique books, along with DVDs, CDs, and records for children and adults.

The sale opens to the public on Friday, October 18 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with free admission, or pay $10 for Early Bird Admission at 8 a.m.  On Saturday, the sale is again open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and teachers, Friends of JCPL and Jeffco Employees enjoy 50% savings on purchases. October 20, the final day of the sale runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Golden United Housing Task Force @ Golden Public Library

The community driven Golden United Housing Task force is advancing actions to improve access to affordable housing for all income levels while preserving Golden’s unique small town character.

All are welcome for this meeting on Thursday, October 24 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. in the Golden Public Library. Ann Norton will lead a discussion about preservation of affordable housing.

Golden United Housing Task Force @ CSM Arthur Lakes Library "Fish Bowl" Meeting Room

The community driven Golden United Housing Task force is advancing actions to improve access to affordable housing for all income levels while preserving Golden’s unique small town character.

The full Housing Task Force will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This will feature a discussion with CSM on how we can work together to address and manage student housing needs.

Following that, the Preserving Existing Housing Subgroup will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to participate in this subgroup.​

All are welcome to both meetings on Tuesday, November 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the “fish bowl” meeting room at the Colorado School of Mines Arthur Lakes Library.

5th Annual Jeffco International Women’s Day 2020 @ Baldoria on the Water

International Women's Day in Jeffco 2020 logoCelebrate women at the 5th annual Jeffco International Women’s Day on March 3 at Baldoria on the Water, 146 Van Gordon Street in Lakewood. The event is sponsored by SCL Health Lutheran and the City of Golden, with additional corporate sponshorships from Genesee Mountain Foundation, IX Power Clean Water, and corporate contributor, Coach Stacy’s Healthy U. Proceeds will benefit Porchlight Family Justice Center and the Jefferson County Library Foundation.

CU Regent Heidi Ganahl & founder of “Camp Bow Wow” will be the keynote speaker at this event during lunch. The winner of the “Unsung Heroine” Award will be announced as well, and Marjorie Sloan will be presented with the “Shattered Glass” Award. Come early to network and learn “The truth about personal & cyber security  today from a genuine, female Denver FBI agent”.

US6 & Heritage Interchange Open House

The second open house for the US6 & Heritage Interchange redesign will take place on Wednesday, February 24 at 6 p.m. The virtual meeting will include a presentation describing four alternatives for the interchange with an opportunity to ask questions and provide input. The login information for the open house is below.

Leadership Golden Meet and Greet @ Cafe 13

Leadership GoldenJoin the Leadership Golden Board of Directors, Steering Committee, and Alumni, for a “Meet and Greet” reception on Thursday, July 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Café 13 (1301 Arapahoe St). Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.
Now in its 38th year, Leadership Golden is accepting applications for the 2021-22 program.
This tuition-free program provides local learning about Golden with 11 sessions from September through April, including Golden history, government, public works, finance, development, education, arts, recreation, and more. This is a great program for new-comers and long-term residents interested in the fabric of Golden. Visit www.leadershipgolden.org for all the details and to complete an application form online. The application deadline is July 31.
