The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through October and the second Wednesday of November, at 7:30 a.m.

The Golden City Council meets in Council Chambers in City Hall every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the city.

For this meeting, Council will first meet in Executive Session at 5:30 p.m. before the regular meeting convenes at 6:30 p.m.

The first four Fridays of August feature family-friendly movies and music for free in Parfet Park. This week we bring you Mary Poppins Returns along with the music of The Sweet Lilies.

Each week, the bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie will start rolling at dusk, generally around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen under the stars.

Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high in a regular height chair, however, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. This year we’ve dedicated the front area to blankets only, so please look for the signs. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. A number of vendors will be on site to offer tasty selections such as pizza, ice cream and sodas. Then, of course, save room, because what’s a movie without hot, buttery popcorn?

Dogs are welcome, just keep them on a leash. And please leave your adult beverages at home – this is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Regular park rules apply.

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. Participants should be able to commit to consecutive Wednesday nights and two Saturdays throughout September. For the full syllabus and to register, visit the PW Citizen’s Academy page.

The Golden Safety Academy was created to help educate and empower citizens with information and resources that enhance their personal safety and crime prevention. This free academy is held once a month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of every month in the Golden Fire Department. You may attend one, several or all sessions.
