Community Center Temporary Closure
Aug 19 – Aug 25 all-day

GCC pool cleaningThe Golden Community Center (GCC) will be closed for its Annual Maintenance Week, Aug. 19 – 25, which coincidentally includes the day of the Colorado Classic bike race.

During this closure the GCC will accomplish many projects that can’t be completed while they’re open, which will include,
but is not limited to, the following:

  • Deep cleaning
  • Refinishing hardwood floors
  • Painting throughout the building
  • Equipment repair and/or replacements
  • Changing bulbs and light fixtures in hard to reach, high places that require special equipment

The Splash will be open for lap swimming August 19 – 25.

The GCC will reopen at normal time on Monday, August 26.

We thank you for your patience as we work hard to make the GCC safe and clean for all residents.

Public Works Citizen’s Academy Kick-off Session @ Public Works and Planning Building

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair @ Downtown Golden

Toby's Pet Parade Fire DogDress up your pup and join about 2,000 other animal lovers for a parade and fair in downtown Golden.

Hundreds of pups in costume will stroll down Washington Avenue and end in Parfet Park for a family-friendly fair.

The parade is free to watch, while parade entrants are $25 per pup. Proceeds of this annual event benefit the more than 12,000 animals that Foothills Animal Shelter cares for annually.

10th Annual Safety & Preparedness Day @ Golden Fire Station

10th Annual Safety and Preparedness DayCome join your neighbors and first responders on September 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a FREE safety event that’s fun and educational for the whole family! There will be child car seat checks, live fire demonstrations, free refreshments, prizes and giveaways.

Firefighters will be on hand for fire apparatus tours and will answer any fire and life safety questions that you may have.
