Community Center Temporary Closure
Aug 19 – Aug 25 all-day

GCC pool cleaningThe Golden Community Center (GCC) will be closed for its Annual Maintenance Week, Aug. 19 – 25, which coincidentally includes the day of the Colorado Classic bike race.

During this closure the GCC will accomplish many projects that can’t be completed while they’re open, which will include,
but is not limited to, the following:

  • Deep cleaning
  • Refinishing hardwood floors
  • Painting throughout the building
  • Equipment repair and/or replacements
  • Changing bulbs and light fixtures in hard to reach, high places that require special equipment

The Splash will be open for lap swimming August 19 – 25.

The GCC will reopen at normal time on Monday, August 26.

We thank you for your patience as we work hard to make the GCC safe and clean for all residents.

They will even have Mini-Mountain Fest for the kiddos so they can have fun, while you get after it.

Staff and architects will present three conceptual renderings, followed by discussion.

2019 Candlelight Walk @ Foothills Art Center

Candlelight WalkExperience the beauty of the holiday season as you walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols during this annual tradition. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos before the walk, then gather at 6 p.m. at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. on Friday, December 6. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. down to the Visitors Center for a holiday show, the countdown to the lighting of the lights by Mayor Marjorie Sloan, and a short fireworks display from the roof of the Golden Hotel.

Enjoy the lights that will shine all along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, along with various activities for everyone to enjoy.

Breakfast with Santa @ Calvary Church

Mr. and Mrs. Santa wave at the camera.Join the Golden Chamber of Commerce for pancakes with Santa! The event is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Calvary Church, 1320 Arapahoe St. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season with your little ones. Breakfast includes pancakes, orange juice, and coffee. All kids will receive a goody bag as part of the experience.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to listen to all of those wish lists! There will be Carol singing with Alli Coffey and holiday readings by Golden Children’s Librarian, Emily Vrotsos. Celebrity chefs from the Golden Volunteer Fire Department and Calvary Episcopal Church will cook up the breakfast.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.goldenchamber.org. Adults are $10, kids are $5, and children under three are free. No tickets will be sold at the door. A portion of the proceeds from Breakfast with Santa will go to the Golden Fire Foundation and Lunch and Life program for the Colorado School of mines free lunch program.
