Be a Tool Day of Service @ Hillside Community Church
Sep 7 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Be a tool logoGolden will be bustling with volunteers armed with paint brushes, hammers, and other home improvement tools for this year’s annual Be a Tool Neighborhood Rehab Project (NRP) on September 7!

Since 2011, the NRP has enlisted kind-hearted neighbors to help homeowners make improvements to their homes to keep them warm, dry, and safe. The program was started in Golden, but has since spread to also include Arvada, Englewood, and Idaho Springs.

Using an innovative model of community support and volunteers, over 734 homes have been improved since the program began.

22,483 volunteer hours were donated which resulted in labor savings of more than $525,000. Yet to the homeowners who benefit from the program, the help is priceless.

Find out more about this project and how you can help at www.beatool.org.

DeLong Park Planning Public Meeting @ Golden Community Center
Sep 16 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

DeLong PostcardIn December 2017 the City purchased the Delong property at 395 23rd Street for the purpose of creating a neighborhood park, which will fill a void in the parks master planning process for the community. The new neighborhood park will be located on 23rd Street, between East Street and Table Heights Drive. The planning process for the new park is just beginning. The area is a blank slate with no plans currently in place; the Parks, Recreation and Museums Advisory Board (PRMAB) is seeking public input on how the area should be developed.

Please join city staff and the Parks, Recreation and Museums Advisory Board on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Golden Community Center, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the first step in the planning process. Rod Tarullo, Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf, will conduct two 15-minute park development presentations at 6:45 p.m., and again at 7:45 p.m. Each will follow with Q&A and open discussion.

The intent of the public process is to generate ideas from the community. For questions on the public process, please contact Stacy Turner, 303-384-8191 or sturner@cityofgolden.net.
