The mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., unless rescheduled for holidays or a lack of quorum. Meetings are open to the public.

Join Planning Staff on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Golden Community Center for a community meeting to discuss the mapping of the new zoning code in the Central Neighborhoods. Those who own or rent a property in that area will receive a postcard in the mail.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the new Form Zone Overlay District that have been mapped to this area. Staff will be on hand to explain the methodology used to apply the map, and gather feedback.

Staff will work with the community to refine the current map of the new form zone overlays.

The Mobility & Transportation Advisory Board offers a venue to evaluate the relationship between mobility of all types and the economy, sustainability, safety, land use, neighborhood integrity, and emergency response times; and study the importance of transportation access to health care, employment, education, housing, business, and recreational facilities.

MTAB meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The Golden City Council meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., unless rescheduled due to holidays or other events happening in the City.

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

The Public Art Commission (PAC) has the responsibility of promoting, selecting, acquiring and maintaining public art in the fulfillment of the City’s Art in Public Places program.

PAC meets on the first Thursday of each month from 9 to 10:30 a.m. These meeting are open to the public.

Presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce and their partner, Coors Distributing Company, this is a fall tradition of all things chili and beer! Over 30 breweries and 100 brands of beer under the Coors Distributing Company umbrella of products will be showcased. All ticketed guests will receive a souvenir sampling beer glass.  Chili cooks compete for top prizes, taste your way through the event and vote for your favorites in each category – Red, Green and Other! “Parenting in a Pandemic”  is part of a series of FREE classes offered for Golden area residents offered by the Rotary Club of Golden. The Mental Wellness Initiative focuses on promoting mental well-being in teens and kids.

Any type of tragedy, including the COVID-19 pandemic, can leave caretakers struggling to find what to say and how to connect with their youth. How do we help kids feel safe and secure in a world that doesn’t feel that way? This class covers how to help kids cope, strategies for care givers to utilize to support feelings of control for them and their young people, and how caregivers themselves can take care of their emotions.

Speaker Chelsea Vibert (LPC) is the clinical coordinator for Colorado Spirit, a team working with those impacted by COVID-19 through Jefferson Center. She received her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and specializes in trauma-based treatments, such as EMDR and TF-CBT. Prior to this role, she provided individual, group, and family therapy to students in Jefferson County schools, as well as providing professional development for educators and administrators on mental health and trauma.
