The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

ARTSWEEK GOLDEN returns July 7 – 15 with a week-long celebration of the arts courtesy of Foothills Art Center and the Golden Public Art Commission (PAC).

Plein Air painters, aerialists, a film screening and art trivia are just some of the activities with an art-oriented focus that will be free to the public. Walk downtown and along the north side of the creek and see if you can discover all 14 “Itty Bitty Art Projects” sponsored by the PAC.

Join the Parks Department and consultants on Monday, July 11 in the Golden Community Center from 6 to 7 p.m. for a meeting to update the community on the progress of the Open Space Master Plan.

Since access to the outdoors is part of daily life in the City of Golden, the City is seeking feedback from people who live near natural areas or open spaces, people who enjoy and seek more access to the outdoors, conservationists, and more. We encourage everyone with an investment in Golden’s natural areas and open space to attend this public meeting in order to share their opinions and receive an opportunity to complete a survey after the meeting that will inform decisions related to the Open Spaces Master Plan.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) implements urban renewal projects consistent with community values.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers and members of the public are welcome to attend. To learn more, visit our GURA page. The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets in Council Chambers on the second Wednesday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled as needed.
