Citizens Budget Advisory Committee Meeting @ Council Chambers
Apr 18 @ 7:30 am

The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through November, at 7:30 a.m. in the Golden City Hall Council Chambers.

To download the agenda for the next meeting, or view archived agendas, minutes or listen to audio from past meetings, please visit the Agendas, Minutes, Web Casts and Schedules page.

Planning Commission Study Session @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month. Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting. To participate in a Planning Commission public hearing, those meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted).

Speaker: Kenton Seth of Paintbrush Gardens

It is becoming more and more widely known that Xeriscaping is a good idea, and there are some really spectacular, eye-catching xeric landscapes out there. But how does your average person achieve such beauty and perfection? And what about when life happens – pets, critters, storms, budgets, and lifestyle realities? How does it work then? Does it have to be ugly to be easy?

Join Kenton J. Seth, a genuinely lazy Native Landscape designer and plant nut, to find out the hands-on, real-life answers that make saving water just the beginning of the benefits you’ll reap from your Xeriscape. If this is not one of the most useful classes you take this year, then you might have taken a wrong turn finding the room.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day 2018 @ Golden Police Department
Apr 28 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
National Prescription Drug Take-back Day 2018

On Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Golden Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give you the opportunity to get rid of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. By getting rid of these types of potentially dangerous drugs, you can prevent pill abuse and theft. Bring your pills for disposal (the DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches) to the Golden Police Department at 911 10th St, Golden, CO.  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines (flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash) both pose potential safety and health hazards.
