Celebrating the Contributions & Achievements of Women in Golden and throughout Jefferson County! International Women’s Day got its start at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe as part of the labor movement. The day was first marked 109 years ago, and today hundreds of communities around the globe celebrate the many contributions and achievements of women everywhere, while noting improvements that are needed to improve life for women, children and men worldwide. This year, in keeping with the objective of the United Nations for gender parity in all careers, we are focusing on the future of women in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are proud to be working with the Golden Library and DECTech at the Colorado School of Mines to recognize young women (grades 5 – 8) with the “Girls in STEM” awards at our luncheon event.

What: Public Open House session for Mines Master Plan project
When: April 19, 2018, 5:30 –7 p.m.
Where: Starzer Welcome Center – 1812 Illinois Street
The public is invited to an open house to offer input into the Mines Master Plan. The video presents the alternative development concepts that have emerged from our earlier master planning meetings. Anyone planning to come to the meeting is encouraged to watch the entire video in advance to prepare for discussion at the meeting.
At this session, the public is invited to comment on alternatives to the physical plan. The alternatives in the video were derived from campus and public input compiled during the previous months. This session is geared towards receiving input from the City of Golden and the public at large.

Seth, a genuinely lazy Native Landscape designer and plant nut, to find out the hands-on, real-life answers that make saving water just the beginning of the benefits you’ll reap from your Xeriscape. VAN-DEMONIUM is your chance to drool over vans and draw inspiration for your own adventure rig! Adventure rigs come in many shapes and sizes—from Sprinters with all the bells and whistles to the family mini-van with a home done conversion. 
This event will have vans on vans, plus beer, live music, games, and raffles so there’s something for every member of the family.

By joining the GFD, you learn much more than how to put out fires. You will learn medical rescue techniques, high angle rescue, swift water and ice rescue, how to save people from car crashes, and much more. You will be helping your neighbors, friends and fellow residents in one of the most long-standing and honorable ways possible for Golden volunteers.
