North Neighborhoods R-2 Zoning Amendments Discussion @ Council Chambers
Mar 14 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

The Planning Division is currently conducting a public outreach process regarding possible new development regulations for R-2-zoned properties in north Golden. A short, online survey is currently available on the Guiding Golden website to assist staff with recommendations for any potential zoning code updates. This survey will be closed at the end of February and the results will be organized into zoning recommendations.

Staff’s recommendations will be presented to the community on Thursday, March 14 in a formal presentation. This presentation will be held in the City Council Chambers from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Additionally, staff’s recommendations will be discussed by the Planning Commission in a study session to be held on March 20.

For more information on the topic and to take a survey regarding North Neighborhoods R-2 Zoning Amendments, please visit www.GuidingGolden.com.

Utility Rate Citizen Committee @ Public Works and Planning Building
Mar 19 @ 6:00 pm

The City of Golden Public Works Department is conducting a rate study for our water, sewer and stormwater (drainage) services in 2019. We are looking at how customers are charged for water, sewer and stormwater services, and the amount we charge for service.

The last rate study was completed more than 20 years ago and much has changed since that time, including water use habits, average demand and peak day needs, available technology and switching to monthly billing to name a few. Given these changes, the study will help us evaluate pricing objectives such as revenue stability, conservation and affordability to ensure we can support our high-quality water, sewer and stormwater services well into the future.

The Utility Rate Citizen Committee was formed to look into these issues and present a recommendation to City Council later this summer. The group first met on February 19 and will meet on the third Tuesday of the month through July at 6 p.m. in the Public Works / Planning Building, 1445 10th Street.

Crime Victims' Rights WeekNational Crime Victims’ Rights Week is recognized this year from April 7-13, 2019, and offers an opportunity for communities to come together to honor victims of crime and to promote victims’ rights. This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the Future.”

In Jefferson County, the weeklong remembrance ends with the 26th annual Courage Walk on Saturday, April 13. The walk begins at 10 a.m. with a continental breakfast and registration on the steps of the Jefferson County Courts and Administration building. The walk begins at 11 a.m.

Doves will be released in honor of victims, following a short ceremony at the Courage Garden, which was built to provide a place of respite for crime victims and their families on the courthouse grounds.

The event is family friendly and the one-mile walk is wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are welcome.

A suggested donation of $10 is recommended, but not required. Proceeds will go to the maintenance of the Courage Garden, training for victim advocate volunteers and to help victims of crimes and other traumatic events in our community.
