Each day of the Gathering features different shows, classes and programming, primarily at the American Mountaineering Museum. The Colorado Cowboy Gathering (CCG) is dedicated to exploring, presenting and preserving the diverse and dynamic cultural heritage of the American West. Celebrating the Contributions & Achievements of Women in Golden and throughout Jefferson County! International Women’s Day got its start at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe as part of the labor movement. The day was first marked 109 years ago, and today hundreds of communities around the globe celebrate the many contributions and achievements of women everywhere, while noting improvements that are needed to improve life for women, children and men worldwide. This year, in keeping with the objective of the United Nations for gender parity in all careers, we are focusing on the future of women in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are proud to be working with the Golden Library and DECTech at the Colorado School of Mines to recognize young women (grades 5 – 8) with the “Girls in STEM” awards at our luncheon event.

In 2011, the idea of Coffee with a Cop was born in a small California town. Since then, there have been thousands of these coffee gatherings in all 50 states and even in 14 different countries. Golden Police participated in the past, but it fell off the radar in recent years. Now, Golden Police officers want to bring it back to our city.
“I believe it is going to be a good thing to bring this event back to Golden,” said event organizer Corporal Adam Lanning. “Many of our citizens like to speak and talk to officers and this just gives them another opportunity.”
Join the Golden Police Department for Coffee with a Cop from 7 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Café 13, 1301 Arapahoe St. The owners of Café 13 have graciously agreed to host the event and provide free coffee and pastries to anyone who comes. There is no agenda and no speeches, just open and honest communication in a comfortable environment. We hope to see you there!
The Colorado Arts & Crafts Society presents a day of demonstrations, workshops and presentations from local artisans. There will also be an opportunity to purchase artists’ wares, including everything from ceramics to jewelry to woodwork.
