Movies & Music in the Parking Lot

Join us for music and a drive-in movie in the old Heritage Square Lower Parking Lot at 18301 West Colfax Avenue on September 11. The movie to be screened will be announced on August 14.

While the event is free, space is limited so you’ll need to reserve your space. Tickets will be available at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 4. Look for the link here and at CityofGolden.net/Movies&Music.

Heart of Golden Walking Tour Kick-off

Join us anytime between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 for a walk along Clear Creek to get a look at ideas for the area. Here’s what we’ll have ready for you on Saturday:
  • Stations along the creek corridor
  • City staff ready to explain the project
  • Give us your thoughts and ideas
Can’t come this Saturday? No worries. Signs and QR codes will remain at the various stations along the corridor for several weeks, so you can take the walking tour on your own time.

CSAB/Planning Commission Subgroup Meeting @ Online

Join the Planning Commission and Community Sustainability Advisory Board subgroup to discuss sustainable energy buildings and ideas for amendments to the residential green building standards, also known as the Residential Sustainability Menu, Section 18.24 of the Golden Municipal Code. This subgroup will focus on:

New Construction

  1. Status quo building requirements review : Theresa to share City’s sites with a) City building code and 2) green point system. Briefly provide overview of current requirements.
  2. Scope definition: Description of new construction in Golden: How many buildings per year, what types of buildings
    1. Residential
    2. Commercial

Developer community characteristics, etc.

  1. Gap analysis What requirements are needed and when to project at our sustainability goals?
    1. what, why, when?
  2. Review of precedence from other communities / City in and outside of Colorado
  3. Possible measures
  4. Prioritization of appropriate, effective policy measures to close gaps.
    1. Regulations, incentives, education, etc.
    2. Through Golden only or other institutions?
  5. Identification of affected stakeholders
  6. Next steps and information gaps
  7. Summary of final recommendations

Golden United Housing Task Force Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

Community Yard Sale @ Old Miller Coors North Office Building

When the City of Golden bought the old Coors building at 311 10th St, we were left with a lot of extra furniture! Since we plan to demolish the building, we need to get rid of everything inside; and we want our community to get first pick! Stop by from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 for a community yard sale. Items for sale include office chairs, filing cabinets, bookcases, office tables, café tables and chairs, and more. The first several customers will also receive a free white board with purchase.

Please note attendees must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. We will only accept credit/debit cards or exact change (items are marked at $5, $10, $15 or $25 with sales tax included) at this event to minimize contact and social distancing measures will be in place.

Whale of a Used Book Sale @ Jeffco Fairgrounds

Colorado’s largest and most popular used book sale is back at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds from Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 14 – 18. The sale is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Friends Night is on Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

To ensure social distancing, no more than 50 shoppers will be allowed entry at the top of each hour, and shoppers have 50 minutes to shop before they are required to check out so that another 50 shoppers can come in.

To guarantee entry at a time of your choosing, you’re encouraged to register in advance online for $5/person. Registration opens on September 30. Each paid registration includes one complimentary book of your choosing (a few exceptions apply). Register at www.WhaleSale.org.

The City of Golden will host a special event for the community to drop off branches broken from the recent storm to assist residents with their yard clean-up.

The event is for City of Golden residents only. A state-issued ID is required.

Acceptable material:

  • stems
  • trunks
  • branches from pruning or removal work

Materials NOT accepted:

  • grass
  • root balls
  • bags of leaves
  • anything containing rocks, dirt or nails
  • processed construction wood (i.e. left over 2×4’s)

Drop off location:

Cross streets of Hwy 93 and Golden Gate. Turn left on Golden Gate and follow the signs. Take the right hand turn approximately 462 feet after turning onto Golden Gate from Hwy 93.
