Rocky Mountain Storytelling Presents “A Tiny Storyfest” @ American Mountaineering Center

The Rocky Mountain Storytellers are back in person with a Tiny Storyfest at the American Mountaineering Center, 710 10th St. in Golden on Oct. 23.

It’s Storytellers, Story Listeners, and Story Lovers creating events that perpetuate the art of oral storytelling.

Tiny Storyfest Features:

  • A mini-concert of four stellar Rocky Mountain Storytellers with years of story savvy. A mini-concert (not a slam) of four slammin’ successful slam tellers.
  • Eight storytellers will do a short “story of their story” after telling – whatever they choose to share about the “hows” and “whys” of their story.
  • A guided group dive into what YOU want to know about storytelling.
  • A fun slam with a theme: First Times.  Come cheer folks on or put your name in the hat with your choice of a personal story or a traditional tale.

Purchase tickets online for $10. Includes both daytime activities and the evening slam!

  • Daytime activities: 1 to 5:15 p.m.
  • Evening Slam 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Community Sustainability Advisory Board Meeting

Golden Sustainability logoThe mission of the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is to assist the City of Golden in achieving the ten-year sustainability goals. In order to facilitate achievement of these goals, the Board will lead, encourage, enable, and empower the citizens, visitors, and people who work in Golden, to live in a sustainable manner.

The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., unless rescheduled for holidays or a lack of quorum. Meetings are open to the public.

Mobility & Transportation Advisory Board Meeting

The Mobility & Transportation Advisory Board offers a venue to evaluate the relationship between mobility of all types and the economy, sustainability, safety, land use, neighborhood integrity, and emergency response times; and study the importance of transportation access to health care, employment, education, housing, business, and recreational facilities.

MTAB meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Historic Preservation Board Meeting
Nov 1 @ 6:30 pm

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

Planning Commission Meeting

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Public Art Commission Meeting

Coffee with a Councilor returns to an in-person gathering, so grab a cup of coffee and join your councilors at the Front Porch in the Golden Community Center on the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. District 2 Councilor Casey Brown and District 1 Councilor J.J. Trout meet with citizens to hear concerns, or just have a conversation. Check out the meeting agenda in advance.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony @ US Marine Corps Memorial

The United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation will hold the annual ceremony for Veteran’s Day on US Marine Corps Memorial LogoSaturday, November 6 at 2 p.m.

The ceremony honoring veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown will feature Guest Speaker Cmdr. Jason Pratt, USN (Retired).  The 13 US troops fallen on August 26th will also be honored and a parade float of the Tomb of the Unknown will be on site as you enjoy a music program.

This year the USMC Memorial has been expanded to collect donations for the Toys for Tots program.

Bring your donations for the Toys for Tots drop from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

 

 

Arrive early, parking available in the commercial lots across the street.
