Mini Poms Dance Clinic

Mini Poms FlyerThe GHS Dance Team will hold a Mini Poms Dance Clinic on Saturday, February 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Golden High School Main Gym with a special appearance by Caitlynn Kern, Broncos cheerleader and GHS Dance Team alumni.

This 3-hour dance clinic is for kids in Kindergarten though 6th Grade. Participants will work on dance skills, play games and learn a dance to be performed with the award-winning GHS Dance Team at a Golden High School Basketball game on February 12 at 7 p.m.

Their 2019 Story Seeds Conference takes place April 12 – 14 with a public concert open to all on April 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert will feature Carolina Quiroga-Stultz, Angel Vigil, and Liz Weir.

story seeds conferenceRocky Mountain Storytelling (RMS) is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization of storytellers, story listeners and story lovers based in Golden, CO. Their 2019 Story Seeds Conference takes place April 12 – 14 with a story SLAM on April 13, 7 to 9 p.m. at the American Mountaineering Museum. The theme of the story slam is “Illusion.” Come with a five minute story and put your name in the hat. One by one names will be drawn and the storyteller will take the stage. Story can be true or a traditional tale, but no notes can be used. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges.

2019 Gathering of the Guilds @ American Mountaineering Museum

Gathering of the GuildsThe Colorado Arts & Crafts Society presents a day of demonstrations, workshops and presentations from local artisans. There will also be an opportunity to purchase artists’ wares, including everything from ceramics to jewelry to woodwork.

This year, vendors will include Annalee’s Naturals, Beth Bradford Studio, Black Birch Studio, Book Arts League, The Bungalow Craft By Julie Leidel, Chinook Pottery, Colorado Calligraphers’ Guild, Colorado Woodworkers Guild, Golden Moon Distillery, Guild of Bookworkers, Handweavers Guild of Boulder; Julie Fletcher Interior Design, Mission West, Nikki Nienhuis Fine Art, Rocky Mountain Marquetry Guild, Rocky Mountain Metalsmiths, Rocky Mountain Silk Painters, Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists and 2R Fine Arts Appraisals.

A renowned neuroscientist, Eagleman takes readers on a journey into their thoughts, actions, and beliefs to answer the mysterious questions of our existence.

The Town and Gown Book Club meets at noon on Wednesday, April 17 in the Boettcher Room of the Arthur Lakes Library on the Mines campus, at the intersection of 14th and Illinois Streets.

Registration for this free luncheon event commits you to read The Brain: The Story of You in preparation of the discussion. Please RSVP by Sunday, April 7.

2019 Easter Egg Hunt @ Parfet Park

Easter Egg HuntThe Golden Kiwanis, with the assistance of their sponsored youth (Builders Club, Key Club, and Circle K) along with the Golden Chamber of Commerce and local merchants provide thousands of stuffed plastic eggs for the kids of Golden to enjoy at Easter.

On the morning of the hunt, eggs are spread throughout Parfet Park with different areas for different age groups. Once the bell sounds, kids clean the park in 30 seconds or less and head into downtown for more activities, so don’t be late!

Whale of a Used Book Sale 2019The Jeffco Library Foundation Whale of a Used Book Sale is a bi-annual event that raises funds for the Jefferson County Library System while giving book-lovers great deals on books of all kinds! The event will be held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

May 30, 6 – 8 p.m. – Friends Only Night (Memberships available for purchase!)

May 31, 8 – 9 a.m. – Early Bird Entry ($10 Fee)
