Mini Poms Dance Clinic

Mini Poms FlyerThe GHS Dance Team will hold a Mini Poms Dance Clinic on Saturday, February 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Golden High School Main Gym with a special appearance by Caitlynn Kern, Broncos cheerleader and GHS Dance Team alumni.

This 3-hour dance clinic is for kids in Kindergarten though 6th Grade. Participants will work on dance skills, play games and learn a dance to be performed with the award-winning GHS Dance Team at a Golden High School Basketball game on February 12 at 7 p.m.

26th Annual Courage Walk @ Jefferson County Courthouse

Crime Victims' Rights WeekNational Crime Victims’ Rights Week is recognized this year from April 7-13, 2019, and offers an opportunity for communities to come together to honor victims of crime and to promote victims’ rights. This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the Future.”

In Jefferson County, the weeklong remembrance ends with the 26th annual Courage Walk on Saturday, April 13. The walk begins at 10 a.m. with a continental breakfast and registration on the steps of the Jefferson County Courts and Administration building. The walk begins at 11 a.m.

Doves will be released in honor of victims, following a short ceremony at the Courage Garden, which was built to provide a place of respite for crime victims and their families on the courthouse grounds.

The event is family friendly and the one-mile walk is wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are welcome.

A suggested donation of $10 is recommended, but not required. Proceeds will go to the maintenance of the Courage Garden, training for victim advocate volunteers and to help victims of crimes and other traumatic events in our community.

Their 2019 Story Seeds Conference takes place April 12 – 14 with a story SLAM on April 13, 7 to 9 p.m. at the American Mountaineering Museum. The theme of the story slam is “Illusion.” Come with a five minute story and put your name in the hat. One by one names will be drawn and the storyteller will take the stage. Story can be true or a traditional tale, but no notes can be used. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges.

3rd Annual Golden Summer Jam @ Colorado Railroad Museum

2019 Golden Summer JamThe 3rd Annual Summer Jam, sponsored by the Golden Civic Foundation, features live music, food and fun for all ages. The goal of this summertime event is to connect with Golden families and residents, promote community involvement and celebrate Golden’s small town, friendly atmosphere.

The evening will feature live music by Dorado, Bowregard and The Great Salmon Famine, three bands with Golden connections. Attendees will also have the chance to explore the Colorado Railroad Museum’s scenic, 15-acre railyard that is home to more than 100 locomotives, passenger cars and cabooses. Guests can enjoy a ride on the Galloping Goose Railway and also delight in the charm of a fully operational miniature garden railway.

Local non-profit partners will be on-site to offer family-oriented activities including the Colorado Mountain Club with their popular Bouldering Bus and the Golden Backpack Program and The Drake Durkee Foundation who have partnered to provide a Bouncy House for the evening. Food and beverage will be sold by New Terrain Brewing Co. (beer), Ace Liquor (wine), Bob’s Atomic Burgers, the Crock Spot and Mooontime Crepes food trucks.

Tickets to the Golden Summer Jam are $20 for adults and free for youth under 18 (maximum 2 free per family) and are available online. Each adult ticket includes one complimentary New Terrain beer. Event proceeds will support the Golden Civic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. All ticket sales are final and tickets to this event are non-refundable.

ARTSWEEK GOLDEN 2019

ARTSWEEK GOLDENJoin in a week-long celebration of the arts! ARTSWEEK GOLDEN includes activites that will take place throughout Golden such as yarn-bombing of Golden sculptures, performance art, sidewalk chalk masterpieces, plein air painting, and much more.

The festival will culminate in the Foothills Fine Arts Festival with more than 100 national artists exhibiting their works in downtown Golden at Arapahoe and 12th Street.
