The 3rd Annual Summer Jam, sponsored by the Golden Civic Foundation, features live music, food and fun for all ages. The goal of this summertime event is to connect with Golden families and residents, promote community involvement and celebrate Golden’s small town, friendly atmosphere.
The evening will feature live music by Dorado, Bowregard and The Great Salmon Famine, three bands with Golden connections. Attendees will also have the chance to explore the Colorado Railroad Museum’s scenic, 15-acre railyard that is home to more than 100 locomotives, passenger cars and cabooses. Guests can enjoy a ride on the Galloping Goose Railway and also delight in the charm of a fully operational miniature garden railway.
Local non-profit partners will be on-site to offer family-oriented activities including the Colorado Mountain Club with their popular Bouldering Bus and the Golden Backpack Program and The Drake Durkee Foundation who have partnered to provide a Bouncy House for the evening. Food and beverage will be sold by New Terrain Brewing Co. (beer), Ace Liquor (wine), Bob’s Atomic Burgers, the Crock Spot and Mooontime Crepes food trucks.
Tickets to the Golden Summer Jam are $20 for adults and free for youth under 18 (maximum 2 free per family) and are available online. Each adult ticket includes one complimentary New Terrain beer. Event proceeds will support the Golden Civic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. All ticket sales are final and tickets to this event are non-refundable.
Celebrate women at the 5th annual Jeffco International Women’s Day on March 3 at Baldoria on the Water, 146 Van Gordon Street in Lakewood. The event is sponsored by SCL Health Lutheran and the City of Golden, with additional corporate sponshorships from Genesee Mountain Foundation, IX Power Clean Water, and corporate contributor, Coach Stacy’s Healthy U. Proceeds will benefit Porchlight Family Justice Center and the Jefferson County Library Foundation.
CU Regent Heidi Ganahl & founder of “Camp Bow Wow” will be the keynote speaker at this event during lunch. The winner of the “Unsung Heroine” Award will be announced as well, and Marjorie Sloan will be presented with the “Shattered Glass” Award. Archaeology isn’t just about digs in exotic locations far away from here. Golden has a rich history that we’re still “uncovering”! Stop by the Golden History Museum (923 10th St.) on Saturday, April 30 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and visit with archaeologist Amy Gillaspie while she photographs artifacts collected during the Astor House Community Archaeology Project excavation of summer 2021.
Learn more about the Astor House dig site, ask about a day in the life of an archaeologist, or just take a look at the artifacts. Amy specializes in social changes at Front Range historic sites and has also excavated at Plains sites in Colorado and North Dakota, at Classic Maya sites in Belize, and for the US Department of Defense on a World War II recovery mission in France. This a free drop-in event with NO registration required.
Homestead for the Holidays lets you experience the winter season just like the pioneers did. This family-friendly event will have you strolling through Golden History Park, taking in the colorful decorations, making a craft that you get to take home, and basking in the season. It’s time to go homestead for the holidays!
Valued volunteers make this event possible and will serve as interpreters within the historic structures to answer questions and guide your experience.

Join us at the Golden History Museum on April 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to learn about the adventures and life of Lavinia Morgan Anderson as told by storyteller, Linda Batlin. Lavinia is a fictional character, but her story is drawn from the snippets of diaries kept by many real pioneer women who immigrated west in the 1800s and created a new life in Colorado. is a composite character of a pioneer woman living on a ranch in Colorado in the late 1880s. Come and hear about the adventures of Lavinia Morgan Anderson and gain a better understanding of the challenges, privations, fears and triumphs of pioneer women.
