Together, we will brainstorm options for regulating land-use and development, as well as strategies for strengthening communication and engagement of residents in planning and zoning processes.

The community workshop will be held at Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St, on Tuesday, June 4, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Movies & Music in the Park 2019 @ Parfet Park
Aug 2 @ 7:00 pm

How to Train Your Dragon 3The first four Fridays of August will feature family-friendly movies and music for free in Parfet Park. This week we’re featuring the popular Dreamworks lesson on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World along with the music of Half Pint & the Growlers, a tasty brew of Swing, Gypsy, Twang and Soul.

Each week, the bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie will start rolling at dusk, generally around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant screen under the stars.

Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high in a regular height chair, however, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. This year we’ve dedicated the front area to blankets only, so please look for the signs. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. A number of vendors will be on site to offer tasty selections such as pizza, ice cream and sodas. Then, of course, save room, because what’s a movie without hot, buttery popcorn?

Dogs are welcome, just keep them on a leash. And please leave your adult beverages at home – this is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Regular park rules apply.

See our Movies & Music in the Park page for a full line-up of coming attractions this August!

Be a Tool Day of Service @ Hillside Community Church
Sep 7 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Be a tool logoGolden will be bustling with volunteers armed with paint brushes, hammers, and other home improvement tools for this year’s annual Be a Tool Neighborhood Rehab Project (NRP) on September 7!

Since 2011, the NRP has enlisted kind-hearted neighbors to help homeowners make improvements to their homes to keep them warm, dry, and safe. The program was started in Golden, but has since spread to also include Arvada, Englewood, and Idaho Springs.

Using an innovative model of community support and volunteers, over 734 homes have been improved since the program began.

22,483 volunteer hours were donated which resulted in labor savings of more than $525,000. Yet to the homeowners who benefit from the program, the help is priceless.

Find out more about this project and how you can help at www.beatool.org.
