The Golden Planning Division will host a Community Open House event regarding the Transportation Master Plan. A project vision, project goals and project objective were developed and now the City needs citizen input.

What do you think are the most important goals of the TMP? How should funding be prioritized? Which types of projects are most meaningful to the community?

Join us on Tuesday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Golden Community Center.

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host a joint open house to share information on their respective and mutual goals, projects and programs and to gather community input on capital investments.

The City will conduct a public hearing to consider information concerning the execution and delivery by the City of a Lease Purchase Agreement of the 160,000 square foot office building on a 3.5 acre parcel of land located at 311 Tenth Street. The City plans to turn the building into a Civic Center.

Join Golden Planning staff for an Open House to discuss new utility (water, wastewater, and drainage) rate structures on Wednesday, August 14, from 6 to 8 p.m in the Golden Community Center.

Stop by the Golden Utilities open house in the Golden Community Center on Wednesday, August 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn more about your water, wastewater and stormwater utilities and potential changes ahead for how we charge for these services.

The open house will include stations that provide information about the water, wastewater and stormwater systems, water resources, rate study, water quality, and conservation. This is your chance to provide feedback on how Golden charges for utility services.

Your input is part of the rate study currently underway, to look at how customers are charged for water, sewer, and stormwater drainage services. A committee made up of experts and local residents worked for the past six months to evaluate the current system and ensure any changes are fair, equitable and tied to the demands that different types of customers place on the system.

The open house format is intended to be flexible to so please stop in at your convenience during the event!

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. The Golden School of Mines will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, September 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Avery Room at the Student Center, 1200 16th Street, to discuss the Mines Master Plan and provide updates on Mines construction projects.

Experience the beauty of the holiday season as you walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols during this annual tradition. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos before the walk, then gather at 6 p.m. at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St. on Friday, December 6. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. down to the Visitors Center for a holiday show, the countdown to the lighting of the lights by Mayor Marjorie Sloan, and a short fireworks display from the roof of the Golden Hotel.

Enjoy the lights that will shine all along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, along with various activities for everyone to enjoy.

Join the Golden Chamber of Commerce for pancakes with Santa! The event is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Calvary Church, 1320 Arapahoe St. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season with your little ones. Breakfast includes pancakes, orange juice, and coffee. All kids will receive a goody bag as part of the experience.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to listen to all of those wish lists! There will be Carol singing with Alli Coffey and holiday readings by Golden Children’s Librarian, Emily Vrotsos. Celebrity chefs from the Golden Volunteer Fire Department and Calvary Episcopal Church will cook up the breakfast.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.goldenchamber.org. Adults are $10, kids are $5, and children under three are free. No tickets will be sold at the door. A portion of the proceeds from Breakfast with Santa will go to the Golden Fire Foundation and Lunch and Life program for the Colorado School of mines free lunch program.
