Join Golden Planning staff for an Open House to discuss new utility (water, wastewater, and drainage) rate structures on Wednesday, August 14, from 6 to 8 p.m in the Golden Community Center.

Stop by the Golden Utilities open house in the Golden Community Center on Wednesday, August 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn more about your water, wastewater and stormwater utilities and potential changes ahead for how we charge for these services.

The open house will include stations that provide information about the water, wastewater and stormwater systems, water resources, rate study, water quality, and conservation. This is your chance to provide feedback on how Golden charges for utility services.

Your input is part of the rate study currently underway, to look at how customers are charged for water, sewer, and stormwater drainage services. A committee made up of experts and local residents worked for the past six months to evaluate the current system and ensure any changes are fair, equitable and tied to the demands that different types of customers place on the system.

The open house format is intended to be flexible to so please stop in at your convenience during the event!

Join the Public Works Department for the kick-off session of the Annual Public Works Citizen’s Academy. This Academy is a free 20-hour program exploring the work that goes into keeping Golden’s streets clear, the water flowing, and the city beautiful! Participants can expect equipment demonstrations, presentations by Public Works staff, and tours of City facilities including a field trip to Guanella reservoir. Join the Golden Chamber of Commerce for pancakes with Santa! The event is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Calvary Church, 1320 Arapahoe St. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season with your little ones. Breakfast includes pancakes, orange juice, and coffee. All kids will receive a goody bag as part of the experience.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to listen to all of those wish lists! There will be Carol singing with Alli Coffey and holiday readings by Golden Children’s Librarian, Emily Vrotsos. Celebrity chefs from the Golden Volunteer Fire Department and Calvary Episcopal Church will cook up the breakfast.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.goldenchamber.org. Adults are $10, kids are $5, and children under three are free. No tickets will be sold at the door. A portion of the proceeds from Breakfast with Santa will go to the Golden Fire Foundation and Lunch and Life program for the Colorado School of mines free lunch program. On Saturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center. Join in the holiday spirit and watch floats, clowns, festive holiday characters, and Santa Claus on the firetruck parade down Washington Avenue. After the parades, head to the downtown area shops and restaurants. Each parade is different, providing the perfect reason to bring the family back to Golden again and again!

Santa is coming by the Golden Police Department on Wednesday, December 11 and wants to meet you!

Come get your picture taken with Santa and meet police officers with the Golden Police Department. Officers will also be collecting letters and making sure Santa receives them. There will be snacks, coloring, crafts and much more holiday fun!

Both of these workshops will begin with a project update and will have a feedback activity, which will allow direct community comment and suggestions.

There are three key questions for the community to address at this workshop.

1) What does your dream corridor look like?

2) What uses would you like to see and where?

3) What uses are most important to you?
