Historic Preservation Board Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

Planning Commission Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

Public Art Commission Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Public Art Commission (PAC) has the responsibility of promoting, selecting, acquiring and maintaining public art in the fulfillment of the City’s Art in Public Places program.

PAC meets on the first Thursday of each month from 9 to 10:30 a.m. These meeting are open to the public.

Proposed Heritage Square Exchange Community Meeting @ Hotel Origins Red Rocks
Mar 10 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Jeffco Open Space (JCOS) will host two community meetings, on Tuesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 – 7 p.m., about the potential Heritage Square Land Exchange. Both meetings will take place at the Origins Hotel Red Rocks, 18485 W Colfax Ave.

In 2019, JCOS received a proposal for a land exchange with Martin Marietta Materials (MMM). The proposed HSE agreement includes the exchange of 64 acres of JCOS property to expand the current Specification/Aggregate mine located on US 40, north of I-70, for approximately 131 acres of MMM property.

The public is encouraged to join one of the upcoming community meetings to learn more about, and comment on, the proposed exchange. Each meeting will include a presentation and question/answer session.

Economic Development Commission Meeting @ Virtual Meeting

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of seven members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.

The Economic Development Commission meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. If a meeting must be rescheduled for some reason, the date will be noted on the Community Calendar.

Mental Health in Golden Community Conversation @ Golden Community Center

A Community Conversation about Mental Health in GoldenJoin Golden Community Partners in a conversation about the value of mental health and community access to services.

The event features former Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter, a long-time advocate in raising awareness for mental health and Mental Health Ambassador for Mental Health Colorado.

Hear from a panel of mental health service providers, as well as people with powerful personal stories to share. Come engage in the sharing of ideas to help our community grow better together.

Organizations, businesses and providers promoting mental health and wellness in our community will be available as well.

Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and the presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. The event is free, but please register in advance on eventbrite.com.

Heart of Golden 2020 Refining Workshop @ Council Chambers

On Wednesday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m., the City of Golden will host refining workshops in City Council Chambers to discuss Heart of Golden 2020 and the Clear Creek Corridor.

This workshop will begin with a project update and will have a feedback activity, which will allow direct community comments and suggestions.

The key questions for the community to address at this workshop are:

  1. What do you like most about each option presented?
  2. What do you like least?
  3. What is missing?

CANCELED: Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board Meeting @ Council Chambers

*Please note, all public meetings, with the exception of City Council, have been temporarily suspended.

The Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board was created to increase community involvement, and to advise Golden City Council and staff on how to best provide safe and comprehensive parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services on behalf of all current and future residents of the City of Golden.

The board consists of seven members and one alternate who serve four-year terms, making suggestions about policies and procedures, fees and charges, acceptance of park land, design of parks, and other projects relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.
