A Greener Golden Event @ Public Works & Planning Building
May 15 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

If you ordered a Garden In A Box kit, come out to pick up your kit between 12 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 during the Greener Golden Event at the Public Works and Planning Building (1445 10th St). Residents can also take advantage of FREE compost and vegetable seeds.

Golden Sustainability is pleased to also offer FREE electronics recycling for Golden residents at this year’s event! This drop-off event will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring a Colorado ID or driver’s license for verification of residency, be prepared to wear a mask, and social distance.

VFW Memorial Day Ceremony @ Golden Cemetery

Memorial Day at Golden CemeteryJoin VFW Post 4171 and the Golden American Legion Post this Memorial Day at the Golden Cemetery in honoring those who died in active military service.

The service will begin at 11 a.m.

Golden Mayor Laura Weinberg will offer brief remarks, along with Lakewood Council members from Ward 1 and 3, and a short ceremony will follow.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be canceled.

Join the Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) for free inspirational garden tours on Saturday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will be able to visit eight amazing gardens throughout Golden and neighboring communities, and local gardeners will share their best practices for creating gardens that are sustainable and earth-friendly.

Movies & Music in the Park 2021

Toy Story 4 with La PompeMovies and Music in the Park is back this year!

The last three Fridays of August feature family-friendly movies and music for free in Parfet Park. This week we bring you Toy Story 4 along with the music of La Pompe.

Each week, the bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie will start rolling at dusk, generally around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant screen under the stars.

Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high in a regular height chair, however, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. We’ve dedicated the front area to blankets only, so please look for the signs. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors.

Dogs are welcome, just keep them on a leash. And please leave your adult beverages at home – this is an alcohol-free and tobacco-free event. Regular park rules apply.

31st Annual Golden Fine Arts Festival @ Downtown Golden

Golden Fine Arts Festival logoA Golden icon for three decades, Golden Fine Arts Festival is a prestigious juried art show located in the heart of historic downtown Golden, Colorado happening August 21-22.

With its prime location just 20 minutes west of Metro Denver and free admission to the public, this premier event traditionally draws over 30,000 visitors (pre-COVID) over 2 days to enjoy art, live entertainment, beer and wine gardens, and food vendors.

The event, rich in community tradition and a well-established reputation, is limited to 100 artist booth spaces. If social distancing restrictions are in place, booth spaces may be limited further. Artists are selected through a competitive jury process selected by art professionals. Traditionally, over half of participating artists travel to Golden from outside of the state of Colorado. Colorado is also home to many talented artists who participate at the event each year. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners in nine categories, as well as Best of Show and Best of Colorado honors.

Symphony in the Park @ Parfet Park

Jefferson Symphony OrchestraThe Jefferson Symphony Orchestra will play in Parfet Park (Washington & 10th St.) on August 22 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

This free event is a great opportunity to enjoy music with the whole family! Please remember that you’re welcome to bring a picnic, but for the safety and enjoyment of everyone, the Golden Rule applies! This is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Dogs are welcome, but please keep your music-loving canines on a leash, and pick up after them.
