The traditional weekend-long Community Pride Days event held annually in May is postponed this year due to the COVID-19 crisis. In the meantime, we do have some waste reduction resources for you.
E-Waste Collection Event*
Golden Sustainability will host a free e-waste drop off event on May 15th from 10am to 4pm at the Public Works and Planning building at 1445 10th St. Residents can drop off personal electronics from 10am – 4pm. Participants will need to show a CO drivers license or Golden utility bill to verify their Golden residency. All e-waste including microwave ovens, small countertop kitchen appliances, TVs, monitors, laptops, scanners, printers, tablets, office electronics, phones, audio/video equipment, CRT TVs, and batteries will be accepted at no cost for secure recycling. Hazardous chemicals, liquids, or any appliance containing Freon or refrigerant will NOT be accepted.
The City of Golden offers curbside appliance recycling to all single family and townhomes in Golden. Acceptable appliances are limited to: washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, and full-size stove/ovens. Items not listed here (including microwave ovens and small refrigerators) are not allowed and will not be picked up. Appliances should be set out in your driveway or in front or side areas of your yard not impeded by a fence or gate. Please do not place items on the street or sidewalk. Each appliance just be clearly labeled, “FOR CITY OF GOLDEN RECYCLING”. This service is available year-round. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office holds document shredding events each year to help prevent identity theft. This year the event is May 15th from 7am to 12pm at 200 Jefferson County Parkway. Each participant is allowed three copy paper boxes or kitchen garbage bags of bank statements, bills, carbon copies of checks, credit card offers, medical information, old checks, pay stubs, receipts, and retirement statements. Aluminum cans, newspapers, phone books, and any form of plastic are prohibited. For more details check out the JCSO website.
Tree Limb Drop-Off*
You can drop off your tree limbs any time from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 15 and 16 at 1225 Catamount Dr. For more details, contact Forestry Supervisor Billy Iannopollo at 303-384-8141.
