The City of Golden is hosting a community kick-off meeting on February 29, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Golden Community Center, 1470 10th St. to begin the planning of a complete streets project for Washington Avenue from downtown north to the connection with State Highway 93. The project is planned for 2017 and its goal is to provide the greatest mobility for all while improving safety and neighborhood livability.
Design of the project is scheduled to begin in fall 2016, however, we want to meet with the community to discuss the project goals and desired outcomes. The February 29 kick-off meeting will be an opportunity to let the city know what the important issues for this corridor are, and what outcomes are desired. Things like easier access to streets, quieter neighborhoods or more pleasant walking are the types of neighborhood outcomes we want to hear about. We want to hear about where you travel within the corridor and preferred options for travel.
More information will be available regarding the next steps and design and construction phase. The project is being funded primarily by a federal transportation grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
