Downtown Parking Management

On July 28, 2016, City Council adopted Resolution 2506 pdf icon, making a few adjustments to the existing neighborhood permit parking areas near the Colorado School of Mines and authorizing a new parking management system for a portion of the downtown area. New rules went into effect February 1, 2017.

Parking Management System Highlights

  • Only includes the area between 14th Street and Clear Creek between Arapahoe Street and Ford Street (see maps on this page).
  • None of the downtown neighborhoods are included in this downtown area under the new program. The neighborhoods that already have a permit system had some adjustments that went into effect in January 2017.

Parking Permit Process

Parking LotThe City of Golden transitioned to a more streamlined parking permit process in January 2017. Addresses within a permitted parking area (see maps below) should access the parking permit portal.

In order to receive a parking permit, individuals will create an account and conveniently upload any required documentation as outlined below:

  • Tenants: a current signed lease showing the tenants name, property address and landlord contact information.
  • Property Owners: a current property tax bill or utility bill showing name and property address.
  • Business Owners: Business owners are responsible for entering vehicle information for all employees to obtain a permit. To obtain a business permit, business owners must provide a current Golden Business License/Sales Tax License as documentation.

All individuals meeting the above requirements will also need to upload a current vehicle registration a provide the license plate number and description (make, model, year, color). Each vehicle must have a current registration on file before a permit will be issued.

Applicants who do not have access to a computer or who need additional assistance are welcome to come to City Hall, 911 10th St., to complete a form and supply the required information. Parking personnel will review the documentation and help complete the registration process for you.

Currently, there are 5 residential areas included in the parking. Please note, a permit for Colorado School of Mines parking is required year-round, not just during the academic year.

  • CSM North – Zone 1 (year-round)
  • CSM South – Zone 2 (year-round)
  • Golden High School Zone
  • 9th Street Neighborhood – Zone 1
  • 9th Street East End – Zone 2

Parking permits are issued by the City to residents/businesses of these neighborhoods, within the permit area and are required for parking. Please see maps below for dates and times of enforcement.
