Movies & Music in the Park

Movies & Music in the Park canceled for 2020

Unfortunately, there will be no Movies & Music in the Park events this year. We always enjoy planning these August evenings and watching Golden families come out for an evening of fun and community, so we’re as disappointed as you are. However, we are working on alternative ideas for summer fun, so please stay tuned!

Each year, the City of Golden offers movie-lovers the Movies & Music in the Park series. The free series runs Friday nights in August. The first three Fridays will be in Parfet Park located at 10th Street and Washington Avenue in downtown Golden. The final movie on August 23 will be in Lions Park Ballfields at 1300 10th Street. See the schedule below for this year’s selection of movies and bands!

The series features free music and a family-friendly movie each Friday night. Bands begin performing at 7 p.m. and the featured movie of the night begins at dusk, around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen under the stars.

Movies and Music in the Park

The original movie series began as just a simple movie in the park back in 2002. By 2005, it turned into Movies & Music in the Park, with the help of Golden Resource for Education, Art and Theater (G.R.E.A.T.). The collaboration between the City of Golden and G.R.E.A.T. helped transform Movies & Music in the Park into the wildly popular event it is today. The partnership with G.R.E.A.T. ended in 2011 but members of the group are still actively involved in its success, and the series has become a summer-time tradition for many Golden families.

Bring blankets or low-slung chairs, and make yourself comfortable! If you need to sit up high, please be courteous of those sitting on the ground, and keep to the edges of the crowd. Come early and bring a picnic dinner, or enjoy food and drinks from local vendors. A number of vendors will be on site to offer tasty selections including tacos, ice cream and sodas. Then, of course, save room, because what’s a movie without hot, buttery popcorn?
Most of all, enjoy!

Rules and Regulations

Please remember that you’re welcome to bring a picnic, but for the safety and enjoyment of everyone, the Golden Rule applies! This is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Dogs are welcome, but please keep your movie-loving canines on a leash, and pick up after them.

Thanks for your cooperation, and see you at Parfet Park!
