Colorado School of Mines Spring Music Concert @ Bunker Auditorium, CSM Green Center

CSM BandEnjoy a free evening of music on Friday, April 28, 7 p.m., in Bunker Auditorium in the Green Center at Colorado School of Mines. The night kicks off with performances from the concert choir and various guitar ensembles, and ends with a performance from the concert band.

In addition to great music, the night will include a raffle to raise money for the CSM band. Funds raised will go toward purchasing new instruments, repairing and maintaining current instruments in bad shape, section lesson coaches for the band and orchestra, and more.

You can purchase raffle tickets before the concert in the lobby, or ahead of time either on April 22 from 12-3 p.m. at the E-Days Carnival, or from tables set up in the Pedestrian Plaza in front of the Student Recreation Center on campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 24-28.  For $1 each ticket, you can win small prizes such as cupcakes from Gold Mine Cupcakes, gift cards from Anthony’s pizza and Woody’s pizza, a Chick-Fil-A gift basket, and much more! You must be present to win these prizes. Also available are $2 tickets (or 3 tickets for $5) for larger prizes including 1) a free night stay and breakfast at the Omni Interlocken Resort and Spa, 2) 3 months of free martial arts classes from Victory Martial Arts in Golden, and 3) an “outdoors basket” including the earth treks climbing passes, free guided mountain tours from Golden Mountain Guides, and 2 free bike rentals from Bentgate Mountaineering. You needn’t be present to win the larger prizes.

Each of these events is open to Mines students, as well as Golden community members.

CANCELED: Historic Preservation Board @ Council Chambers

The Historic Preservation Board has a number of responsibilities regarding the preservation and upkeep of Golden’s many historic sites.

The Board meets on the first Monday evening of each month in public hearing in the City Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Study sessions may be scheduled the third Monday of each month.

Planning Commission Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission public hearings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month.

Public Art Commission Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Public Art Commission (PAC) has the responsibility of promoting, selecting, acquiring and maintaining public art in the fulfillment of the City’s Art in Public Places program.

PAC meets on the first Thursday of each month in City Hall Council Chambers at 911 10th Street, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. These meeting are open to the public.

Explore Golden Rally & 2017 Discover Colorado Roadshow Kickoff @ Golden Visitors Center

National Travel & Tourism Week 2017Join us for the Explore Golden Rally & Colorado Tourism Office Roadshow Kickoff on Monday, May 8 in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week (May 7 – 13, 2017).

National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual national tradition that unites communities across the country to acknowledge what travel means to American jobs, economic growth and personal well-being. Visit Golden and the Golden Visitors Center invite you to join the celebration!

Golden is the kickoff location to begin the Colorado Tourism Office’s (CTO) yearly Roadshow. Learn how the CTO’s work benefits the state’s tourism industry and how to get involved in their programs and efforts. During the kickoff, the CTO will honor one of Golden’s very own frontline tourism employees for outstanding work as a tourism representative.

The excitement continues with an Explore Golden Rally to celebrate Colorado Tourism in true Golden fashion! Small bites from Buffalo Rose, Table Mountain Grill & Cantina, Goldmine Cupcakes and Woody’s accompanied by unique Western entertainment and Golden’s favorite cultural attractions will highlight the event.

GURA Meeting @ Council Chambers

In 1989, the Golden City Council created the Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) to support the economic vitality of downtown Golden. When the Golden City Council created GURA, it also adopted an Urban Renewal Plan to provide guidance to GURA. The organization implements urban renewal projects, consistent with community values.

Economic Development Commission Meeting @ Public Works Building

The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) was established by Golden City Council in June of 1999 and consists of eight members. The purpose of the Economic Development Commission is to provide leadership, education, and the tools necessary for the Golden community to optimize appropriate economic opportunities. Their duties include developing a structure and strategy for marketing/promoting the Golden community.
