Updated Information about Golden's Municipal Court

Law Books

The Golden Municipal Court building will be open to the public on Mondays only beginning June 1, 2020 for court sessions. Court staff will continue to be available Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by phone to transact court business including the acceptance of phone payments and answer any questions you may have regarding your case.

Most cases in our court are payable citations that don’t require an appearance if you pay prior to your scheduled court date. Other cases, you may have appeared in court and are only needing to provide proof of completion of a court order by a certain review date. For the concern and safety of all, if your case allows you the ability to transact court business without appearing in person, that is strongly encouraged at this time. If you choose to appear in court or it has been ordered “mandatory” for you to appear, please review our Court Entry Rules pdf download before coming to court; these rules that must be followed upon entering the courthouse. To maximize public safety and minimize traffic in the court building, please do not appear at the court earlier than your scheduled time.

If you have the option to pay your citation without appearing in court, you may still do so prior to your court date. If a plea bargain option has been given to you and you choose to not accept that plea bargain, you must appear in the Golden Municipal Court (not Jefferson County Court as we are not the Jefferson County Courthouse) on your scheduled court date and time. Please review our Court Entry Rules pdf download before coming; these rules must be followed when entering the courthouse to appear for court or to handle court business. All individuals who appear for court must follow these rules. These rules will be strictly enforced.

If you have received a citation with a payable plea bargain on it or you have previously come to court and a fine was ordered, you may pay by credit card online at: www.municipalonlinepayments.com/goldenco or call us at 303-384-8006 during our business hours to process your payment over the phone. You may also mail in a check or money order to: Golden Municipal Court, 911 10th Street, Golden, CO 80401 or place it in our night drop box located on the wall outside to the left of the vestibule doors at City Hall. This must be done prior to your scheduled court date.

If you received in the mail an “Advisement of Rights” and “Guilty Plea by Mail” forms, you can still mail in both of those forms signed and dated by you along with a check or money order for court staff to process as long as it’s received prior to the court date listed on your paperwork.

If you have been to court, been sentenced and had court ordered sentencing requirements to complete you may provide proof of completion by mailing it to the Golden Municipal Court, 911 10th Street, Golden, CO 80401 or faxing to 303-384-8055 prior to your court date. This will potentially eliminate your need to actually appear in person. Please call the court at 303-384-8006 during our business hours if you are uncertain of what’s required or have any questions.

Please note, it is your responsibility to ensure the court receives payment and/or any necessary proof of completion paperwork (class certificates, community service log sheets, etc.) PRIOR to your court date. Failure to do so may result in a bench warrant for your arrest, a default judgment or an outstanding judgment warrant entered against your driver’s license.
