Movies & Music in the Park 2017 @ Parfet Park

Movies and Music in the Park 2017A favorite Golden family summertime event, Movies & Music in the Park has a great line-up of bands and films this year!  As always, admission is free, and food from food trucks will be available for purchase. Music starts at 7 p.m.
Movies start at dusk (generally between 8:30 and 9 p.m.)

August 4:  Karaoke Dance Party and Live DJ/ Sing
August 11:  Wildermiss / Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
August 18:  Kalama Polynesian Dancers / Moana
August 25:  The Moses Jones Band / Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Food trucks will be available, and feel free to a pack a picnic in the park!

Please remember, all parks are smoke- and vape-free, and alcohol is prohibited.

GURA Meeting @ Council Chambers

In 1989, the Golden City Council created the Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) to support the economic vitality of downtown Golden. When the Golden City Council created GURA, it also adopted an Urban Renewal Plan to provide guidance to GURA. The organization implements urban renewal projects, consistent with community values.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting @ Golden Community Center

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was created in 1982 in order to increase community involvement, and to advise Golden City Council and staff on how to best provide safe and comprehensive parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services on behalf of all current and future residents of the City of Golden.

The board consists of seven members and one alternate who serve four-year terms, making suggestions about policies and procedures, fees and charges, acceptance of park land, design of parks, and other projects relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.

The board meets regularly at 7 p.m. in the Community Center on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information, please visit our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board page. CBAC Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Citizens Budget Advisory Committee (CBAC) was created by the City Manager to advise City staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual City budget. Participation in CBAC is an opportunity not only to advise on the prioritization of how City tax dollars are spent, but also to advise our policymakers in their decision-making process.

CBAC meets the third Wednesday of each month, March through November, at 7:30 a.m. in the Golden City Hall Council Chambers.

Planning Commission Study Session @ Council Chambers

The Planning Commission, established in 1948, affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the City and its welfare; to learn all facets of the regulations governing such functions; interact with a wide variety of citizens participating in the shaping of Golden’s future; and assume an active role in any regulation changes involving zoning and subdivision activity.

Planning Commission Study Sessions recur on the third Wednesday of each month. Study Sessions are open to the public, but are for information only, and no public hearings or votes will take place during the meeting. To participate in a Planning Commission public hearing, those meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted).

Fine Arts FestivalThe 27th Annual Golden Fine Arts Festival, presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce, is one of the largest and most prestigious juried art shows in the country. The 2-day Festival features over 130 artists from 20 states, including many from Colorado. Artists will be juried in various media categories such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, and photography.

The GFAF has free admission and will include food vendors, live music, locally brewed beer, and free art activities for children. We invite you to join us for this wonderful art show located adjacent to beautiful Clear Creek.

DDA Meeting @ Council Chambers

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a special district entity authorized and directed by state statute to benefit the economic and community vitality of the downtown area. The DDA will also be authorized to provide tax increment economic incentives to eligible redevelopment projects, much like GURA was able to do in the past.

The DDA meets on the third Monday of each month (unless otherwise noted on the calendar) at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

Local Liquor Licensing Authority

The Local Liquor Licensing Authority meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. These meetings are open to the public and take place in City Council Chambers, 911 10th Street at 2:30 p.m.

The Board is comprised of a Hearing Officer, who is appointed by City Council.
