Candlelight Walk 2017 @ Foothills Art Center

Candlelight Walk, lighting candlesExperience the beauty of the holiday season as you walk through downtown Golden, candle in hand, singing holiday carols. Golden’s traditional Candlelight Walk on Friday, Dec. 1, offers an old-fashioned way to start the season of lights and is open to everyone.

Gather at 6 p.m. at Foothills Art Center for pre-walk caroling. The walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. and ends in front of the Golden Visitors Center at 10th Street and Washington Avenue for the tree lighting.

Olde Golden Christmas Parades @ Downtown Golden

Olde Golden Christmas ParadeSaturdays in December, authentic and historic downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events. The free Olde Golden Christmas Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, marching bands, old cars, elves on unicycles, the Grinch in his corvette, and of course, Santa Claus.  The parade winds down Washington Avenue with lots of activities before and after including snappy barbershop quartets, hot cider, Victorian carolers, and antique fire trucks. Presented by the Golden Chamber of Commerce.  *Rain, snow, or shine*

It’s a program of festive favorites that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Also on the program is Stravinsky’s lively composition, Petrushka, based on a story about a mischievous puppet by the same name.

Plus, you can get a head start on your holiday shopping at our annual Silent Auction featuring many unique gift ideas.

GHS 6th Annual Chili Cook-off & Silent Auction @ Golden High School

The annual Chili Cook-off is GHS’s largest fundraising event. Enter your favorite chili in one of four categories, or just bring the family for all-you-can eat chili and shop the silent auction.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

JOY Children’s Carnival @ CSM Kafadar Commons

JOY (Jamboree for Outstanding Youngsters) is a children’s carnival put on by Colorado School of Mines coed service and leadership fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, that promotes STEM-related activities for local youth.

Held on the Colorado School of Mines campus, it includes a variety of STEM activities hosted by campus and community organizations. The theme for the carnival this year is dinosaurs!
